Switch me on
Play my sound
And close your eyes.

Switch me on
And stay around
And close your eyes.
Switch me on
Play my sound
And close your eyes.

Switch me on

And stay around
And close your eyes.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Jean-Michel Jarre Air's song Close Your Eyes explores the idea of escapism through music. The imagery of switching on a sound and asking the listener to close their eyes indicates that the artist is trying to evoke a sense of immersion into the music. The repetition of the verse suggests that the artist is asking the listener to keep listening to the music without any distractions, and to let the music take them away, showing the power and beauty of music in helping people escape their reality.

The use of the phrase "Switch me on" is a metaphor for both music and the human connection. Just as the lyrics suggest that music is a way to turn on the listener, it also implies that just like a switch, humans have the ability to turn on others with their presence. The words "stay around" reinforce this idea, expressing the desire for the listener to not leave or disconnect. Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of emotional vulnerability and intimate connectivity through the power of music.

love this new offering from JMJ. So interesting and in many parts beautiful. Music needs to transcend and I feel transcended. Thank you JMJ.

It's a history of synth music. It starts with typical analogue Kraftwerk sounds, goes through Fairlight sampling and finishes being played on an ipod. Nearly all classic synths were used in the making of this track as far as I'm aware.

Exactly this. Jarre showing why he has been in the game so long. Genius.
