FALLING HEARTS
Jeanne Added Lyrics

In a bed that I will make
Out of stone, out of clay
Out of the hearts that I will break
My breath will find a way
Pale light and delicate
To help you through the day
My strength will know no end
No heart it cannot mend
No skin it cannot feel
No arms it cannot steal
You're not me I'm not you
Tell me should I fear you?
We'll walk along some more
You and I will make the shore
My strength will know no end
No heart it cannot mend
No skin it cannot feel
No arms it cannot steal
You're not me I'm not you
Tell me should I fear you?
We'll walk along some more
You and I will make the shore
My strength will know no end
No heart it cannot mend
No skin it cannot feel
No arms it cannot steal
You're not me I'm not you
Tell me should I fear you?
We'll walk along some more
You and I will make the shore
We'll walk along some more
You and I will make the shore
Jeanne Added's song "Falling Hearts" is about the inevitability of loss and heartbreak in life. The opening lines, "Our falling hearts will lie/ In a bed that I will make/ Out of stone, out of clay/ Out of the hearts that I will break," suggest that the singer is resigned to the fact that heartbreak is inevitable and that she will be the one causing it. She is building a bed out of the broken hearts of her lovers, indicating that she has hurt people in the past and is continuing to do so.
The singer goes on to describe how her breath will help her lover through their pain, but there is a sense of detachment in her voice. She speaks of her own strength as though it is limitless and could mend any heart or steal any set of arms. The repeated line, "You're not me, I'm not you/ Tell me should I fear you?" hints at a lack of empathy on the part of the singer towards her lover. She seems to be questioning whether she should be afraid of the person she is with or whether they should be afraid of her.
