Blues De-Luxe
Jeff Beck Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't know too much about love, people,
But I sure think I've got it bad.
I don't know too much about love, people,
But I sure think I've got it bad.
Some people say love is just a gamble.
But whatever it is, it's about to drive poor me mad.

I sit here in my lonely room,
Tears flowing down my eyes.
As I sit here in my lonely room,
Tears flowing on down my eyes,
I wonder how you could treat me so low-down and dirty.
You know what? Your heart must be made out of iron,
And it ain't no lie.

Sometimes, I get so worried, people,
I could just sit right down and cry.
Sometimes, I get so worried, people,
You know I could sit right down and cry.

Because I don't know too much about love, people,
But I sure think I've got it bad

Overall Meaning

Jeff Beck's Blues Deluxe is a song that talks about love, the emotions associated with it, and how sometimes people can be blind to each other's needs. The lyrics are full of passion and angst as the singer expresses his doubts about love and how it has affected him. Although he does not know much about love, he believes he has it bad, and he is slowly losing his mind because of it. The song speaks to the listener's heart and shows how love can be both beautiful and painful.

The song's lyrics bring out the raw emotions of a person who has been heartbroken and is struggling to deal with the pain. The singer is alone, with tears flowing down his eyes, as he wonders how someone who once meant everything to him could treat him so poorly. He calls out the other person for having a heart made out of iron and being cold and unfeeling. The song's melancholic tone and the singer's heartfelt delivery give the listener a sense of the pain and emptiness that comes with unrequited love.

Overall, Blues Deluxe is a song that explores the complexities of love, its many emotions and its impact on people's lives. The song's lyrics, combined with Jeff Beck's bluesy guitar riffs, make it a timeless classic that is still relevant today, decades after its release.

I put this album on at a party in the late 70s and my friend hooted at me for playing this old fashioned heavy guitar bloozy stuff. So now it's 2013 and Truth is still a great album and its guitar sounds are still fantastic. And let's hear it for the late Nicky Hopkins who did what he does here on so many people's albums, making them better!

I was 18 when this came out. I was a bassist in a local band. I played along with it a thousand times. I could (and still can } play every note. I used to dream that one day our band would recruit a pianist who could play like Nicky Hopkins. Of course we never did. Nobody could ever play like Nicky. Lovely to hear it again at 70 years of age. It takes be back .........
