Let's Go Rain
Jeff Tweedy Lyrics
Jump to: Line by Line Meaning ↴
Washed away a world of sin
Some say destruction is an act of love
And think it should happen again
Oh, let's go rain
Let's go rain again
Oh, let's go rain
Now once upon a time I was a Christian
I didn't know I didn't need to know
When the sky speaks I'm going to listen
And when it's pissin' I'll just figure I'm alone
Oh, let's go rain
Let's go rain again
Oh, come on rain
Let's go rain again
Oh I should
Build a wooden ark
Wouldn't you rather live
On an ocean of guitars?
Aw, come on rain
Let's go rain again
Let's go rain
Let's go rain again
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Maybe you're not a believer
Maybe you don't have a choice
Or maybe it's a fever that you haven't caught yet
'Cause you haven't met Scott McCaughey
Oh, let's go rain
Let's go rain again
Oh, let's go rain
Still no rain again
Oh, I've heard about Noah's flood
I've been informed of the story of Noah's flood
Washed away a world of sin
The flood was a means to cleanse the world of its sins
Some say destruction is an act of love
There are those who believe that destruction can be an expression of love
And think it should happen again
They believe that a similar event should occur once more
Oh, let's go rain
Let's experience rainfall
Let's go rain again
Let's have the rain repeat itself
Now once upon a time I was a Christian
At a certain point in the past, I identified as a Christian
I didn't know I didn't need to know
I was unaware that there were things I didn't need to know
When the sky speaks I'm going to listen
I pay attention when the sky communicates with me
And when it's pissin' I'll just figure I'm alone
When it's raining heavily, I assume that I am isolated
Oh, come on rain
Come on, let it rain
Oh, I should
Oh, I ought to
Build a wooden ark
Construct a boat made of wood
Wouldn't you rather live
Wouldn't you prefer to exist
On an ocean of guitars?
In a vast expanse filled with guitars?
Aw, come on rain
Oh, please rain
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Vocalization without a specific meaning
Maybe you're not a believer
Perhaps you don't believe
Maybe you don't have a choice
Perhaps you lack a choice
Or maybe it's a fever that you haven't caught yet
Or perhaps it's a passion that you haven't experienced
'Cause you haven't met Scott McCaughey
Because you haven't encountered Scott McCaughey
Still no rain again
Once again, there is no rain

Damn it's incredible how good his voice still is

Agreed. I keep asking Santa for a Jeff Tweedy Lullaby album. Still waiting.

He paces himself these days. But his voice has definitely aged like a fine wine. Much better than his early years, and he even talks about it a bit in the book.

With the kind of music he do, I don't think his voice can ever fail him. Weathered is like more soulful.

I absolutely loved the clouds with the ribbons. I had no idea this man existed, but I liked his performance and that his kids where with him. Ohhh! And then the animals came out. Quite the school performance. Really enjoyed it...oddly enough.

I love Jeff Tweedy and Wilco so much. We are all lucky to have artists like him to keep us united and sane during these disturbing times. By the way, the whole family is wonderful. That's Sammy on back-up vocals and Spencer on drums. Their mother Sue used to own a live music club in Chicago back in Wilco's early days. I believe the young fella in the jeans jacket playing guitar is in the band The Blisters with Spencer.

Nah, that is just Liam Cunningham, an old family friend. He used to be part of the legendary Kids These Days Band, and Marrow. Great talent!

This is a great performance and great TV. It's a last gasp of broadcast television. Very sweet--
