From Shadows
Jeff Williams Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

From shadows
We'll descend upon the world
Take back what you stole
From shadows
We'll reclaim our destiny
Set our future free
And we'll rise
And we'll rise

Above the darkness and the shame
Above the torture and the pain
Above the ridicule and hate
Above the binding of our fate

Born with no life... into subjugation
Treated like a worthless animal
Stripped of all rights
Just a lesser being
Crushed by cruel ruthless human rule

When it started
All we wanted was a chance to live our lives
Now in darkness
Taking anything we want and we will rise

We'll rise
We'll rise

Overall Meaning

The song "From Shadows" by Jeff Williams is a powerful and emotive song that speaks to the struggle and oppression faced by a group of individuals who are born into subjugation and treated like animals. The opening lines of the song are emblematic of the defiance and hope that this group holds, as they declare that they will descend upon the world and take back what has been stolen from them. They will reclaim their destiny and set their future free. The repeated refrain of "we'll rise" is a call to action and a rallying cry for this group to claim their rightful place in the world.

The lyrics of the song paint a vivid picture of the harsh reality faced by these marginalized individuals. They are stripped of their rights and treated as lesser beings, crushed under the weight of cruel and ruthless human rule. The second verse of the song speaks to the transformation that occurs when this group decides to rise up against their oppressors. They are taking anything they want and are no longer willing to be held down by the darkness that once ruled their lives. The chorus of the song is a testament to their strength and determination, rising above the darkness, shame, torture, pain, ridicule, hate, and the binding of fate.

Adam was.....he was definitely a diamond in the rough as a character. The greatest heroes and villains are all created from the same kind of tragedy, but it's one slight difference that separates the heroes from the villains, therefore the fine line between a hero and a villain are as thin as the line between madness and genius. One seeks to inflict pain unto those who wronged them in a quest for revenge become the villains, those who seek to prevent what happened to them from happening to others become the heroes.

Unfortunately, due to the self-fulfilling prophecy because of that one part of their ideology; "Since they treat us like monsters, then let us become monsters" and as a result, they become no different than the villains who wronged them in the first place. You just end up creating another damn villain over and over again. This is why I despise people who hate Adam. He's one of the more salvageable villains in existence with great complexity and depth.

I also see a great similarity to this situation with our current politics. The liberals demonize the conservatives, the left demonizes the right, and every choice and action the opposition makes are no longer required to be understood because after you demonize someone, the reasons for their choice and action is because they are evil and nothing more. It's certainly simpler that way, isn't it? But the real world doesn't work that way because the enemy is also fighting for what they believe is right and no conflict or war has started where one side knew it was wrong!

This also brings us back to the motto of RWBY: "Strength will not bring victory." How then do you think they will defeat something unkillable like Salem? Do you Adam-haters really believe that killing Adam will end this endless cycle of hate? No. All your hate for Adam does is generate more hate and retaliation. You are only feeding the fire. The power of friendship and lesbian certainly won't do a damn thing here to erase the hatred and darkness that exists in these villains. Monty's work is meant to show you that there is another way, but this way requires you to empathize with the ones you hate and understand them, but not many of you are willing to do that and not many of you seem to understand that. So now that they've killed off Adam to cater to the SJW audience, I'm done with this series.

There is nothing you can learn or take away from RWBY. If only Monty was still here....

Actually because they both suffered abuse from different ends of the spectrum. Blake from romance and society, Weiss from "Family" and society.

@@PrincessTwilightdash And Adam was also kind of a slave for SDC. Both of them have been with the abuser and abused part of the conflict
