The "classic" lineup of Jefferson Airplane, from October 1966 to February 1970, was Marty Balin (vocals), Paul Kantner (guitar, vocals), Grace Slick (vocals), Jorma Kaukonen (lead guitar, vocals), Jack Casady (bass), and Spencer Dryden (drums). Jefferson Airplane was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and was presented with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

Milk Train
Jefferson Airplane Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I just want to ride it - some of the time.
I don't think you'd mind if I mention it -
Don't leave the cow juice behind, it'll cost you nothing
Now I've got the time to talk to you.
If you've got the time to laugh
I don't have to pay for your open mouth and
It'll cost you nothing.
Some men just talk me dry
Some men are just liquid in the mind.
Some men are absolutely rigid
Some men are easy feeling but they're hard to find.
You've got most of my body - damn near all of my mind unwinding
Milk train comes by here everyday.
The lyrics of Jefferson Airplane's "Milk Train" express a desire to take part in life's pleasures, represented by the metaphor of a milk train, without disrupting their natural course. The singer doesn't want to stop the milk train from running, as it represents the flow of life and actions of others, but instead wants to ride it and take part in the experience. This is indicative of the free-spirit mentality of the hippie era, where individuals sought to engage in new experiences and break free from societal norms.
The lyrics also touch on themes of free love and the freedom to express oneself without the constraints of social expectations. The line "I don't have to pay for your open mouth" suggests a willingness to engage in oral sex or other taboo sexual practices without the need for payment or obligation. This is further supported by the reference to a "free milk tongue bath," which implies a sexual act that is given without expectation.
Overall, the lyrics of "Milk Train" express a desire to live freely and embrace all of life's experiences, even those that are taboo or unconventional.
