Foster started her own label – now called Fosterchild Records - in 2003. Her debut release, Everybody’s Girl, garnered national radio success at the Triple A format, as well as positive reviews, praising her no-frills, unfiltered lyrics. Songwriting awards followed and she has also secured some impressive Film/TV placements, with songs placed in the popular television soap opera All My Children as well as a recent placement in an American Pie movie sequel.
The title track of Foster’s 2006 sophomore CD, The Underdogs, won “Song of the Year” at the Out Music Awards. Foster grew up in a very conservative, Houston, TX, suburb.
Foster credits another outsider, Ani DiFranco, for inspiration in her business model. “Ani did it her way, and she inspired me to do it my way. I’ve created a fairly unique situation. I’ve built a team of people I trust at my label and also, a community of fans,” Foster proudly notes. “It’s always challenging to take off the artist hat and put on the business hat, but it’s a challenge I embrace. My music means too much to me to blindly put it in someone else’s hands.”
Foster’s new album, "Thirty-Nine," was slated for a 2009 release, and a four-song EP, "Songs From Thirty-Nine," is currently available. The video for the single "Closer To Nowhere" recently reached #1 on the LOGO Channel (MTV Network) charts.

I seriously don't think people who are heterosexual understand. Like my mom used to tell me, you go looking for lesbian things all the time. I tell her that she turns the TV and 99% of the things on TV are heterosexual. The reason we as humans watch TV is to connect, how am I a lesbian suppose to connect to someone or something that was created for a heterosexual? I can't. So I have to look for things that I can. This is something that brings joy to my heart, the story and the way it is made was beautiful. I am very thankful for people who take the time to spread the word, and their story. I don't think that someone putting this up on their page is them shoving it in anyone face and I think that the public is made up of more LGBT people then is thought to be, So there for it is a service announcement not activist propaganda. You are the ones clicking on things that are clearly labeled for someone who has compassion for same sex interest and then bashing it. My final thoughts are, I am sure that when you think back to being a kid you can hear your mom saying if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

Yessss love your words. I just started being a book addict on this app that my girlfriend claims I am Lol. I told her babe it's something I finally can relate & get advice from. Everything is heterosexual, idk I'm not moved by that, b/c I can't relate. I want to see movies in the theater being able to reach all audiences especially such things as romance & family movies so children with same sex parents can relate as well. This video had me in tears of joy imagining myself marrying my girlfriend. Well put words once again!

This is one reason why, our community has a higher depression rate because of a lack of things that show support for us or anything we can connect to or with. It's difficult searching out anything for our community because while acceptance is slowly way to slowly growing they ignore the fact that we still have no movies,tv,books,songs for the most part, entertainment,businesses that cater to us we're still too largely, ignored. I asked a str8t person once do you actively seek out things that are hetero-normative?There response was well that's different not really.

1431adam Yes our community is so large. As marriage equality keeps spreading I'm so surprise that Hollywood hasn't put a lgbt film out there. Entertainment should appeal for all. Some kid that I once was nd that role model. Nd that guidance on what to do in certain situations. Just plain nd to relate with something. Seeing this video made my heart melt that hey I can actually marry the woman I love.

yea I like that equality is spreading but there's still a lot of things our community ignores like the discrimination with in our community,still legal for me to be fired in over 40 states,higher poverty rate and so on there's still a lot of work that needs to be done.
