Dime
The lyrics of Jencarlos Canela's "Dime" describe a desire to be with someone despite the obstacles and challenges that come with it. The singer begs to be left alone but in a world where the person they desire is by their side. They are willing to let go of everything else and rest in that person's embrace. However, their love is forbidden and every path they take seems to lead to a dead end. They question how to resist the temptation of their lover's gaze and suppress their emotions. The pain of having them so close yet being unable to fully have them is unbearable, yet they can't deny their love for them.
The lyrics convey a sense of desperation and a struggle between following the heart and the mind. The chorus repeats the question of how to numb the heart and push aside the forbidden love they feel. The verses display a sense of longing and sacrifice for the sake of love, which makes it relatable to many people who have been in a similar situation. The song shows the inner battle one faces when falling for someone they can't have, yet can't let go of.
