Green Meadow Island
Jeniferever Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Shadows that night, when we were princes for a
Little while. So far away from here, longing for
More, until the light of day.
The night began to end and we seemed to dis-
Appear again. Only the crowns left.
Breathe the morning in, in which we breathe the
Morning in. The cocoons in which we reside
While missing the places we missed. The grounds
Never kissed.
The night began to end and we seemed to dis-
Appear again. Only the crowns left of the kingdoms
We'd always rule.
In Jeniferever's song Green Meadow Island, the lyrics describe a moment in time where the singer, possibly a group of friends, feel untouchable and invincible, like princes ruling their own kingdoms. They move with purpose, detached from the shadows of the night, wanting more and longingly waiting for the light of day.
However, as the night comes to an end, the detachment fades, and they begin to disappear again. All that remains are the crowns, symbols of the kingdoms they ruled, but now lost. The singer and their friends are stuck in their own little spaces, living in cocoons while longing for the places they missed – the grounds never kissed.
The lyrics capture a sense of nostalgia and longing for a time when everything felt possible, and the future seemed bright. The use of imagery throughout the song evokes a dream-like state, as if the moment the singer is describing is both vivid and fleeting.
Overall, Green Meadow Island is a song that speaks to the universal human experience of wanting to hold onto or relive a moment in time, and the sadness that comes with the knowledge that those moments are gone forever.
