STRONGER
Jennette McCurdy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You feel out of breath, used up and broken down
Just like a shattered glass, in pieces on the ground
Some days you wanna scream, but you can't make a sound
But you're not alone

Here comes another day, here comes another fight
You'd rather give it up, than give it one more try
'Cause no one understands, the way you feel inside
You're not alone

Right now it feels like the end of the world
All your battles are lost
You've been cheated, mistreated
Just when you think that you can't hold on any longer
Hold on a little bit longer
Trust me, you'll see
You'll be so much stronger
(You'll be so much stronger)

It's only temporary, but it feels like you're stuck
Like no wishing well could ever change your luck
They say when one door closes, another opens up
And you walk right through
Yeah you know what to do

Right now it feels like the end of the world
All your battles are lost
You've been cheated, mistreated
Just when you think that you can't hold on any longer
Hold on a little bit longer
Trust me, you'll see
You'll be so much stronger
(You'll be so much stronger)

You might have to bend, but you're not gonna break
Wipe the tears from your eyes and the fear off your face
You know deep down inside you've got what it takes

Right now it feels like the end of the world
All your battles are lost
You've been cheated, mistreated
Just when you think that you can't hold on any longer
Hold on a little bit longer
Trust me, you'll see

You'll be so much stronger
(You'll be so much stronger)

Overall Meaning

In "Stronger," Jennette McCurdy speaks to anyone who has ever felt broken, used up or mistreated, and reminds them that they are not alone. The opening lines compare the listener's state of mind to a shattered glass in pieces on the ground, emphasizing how helpless they may feel. But even though they may feel like screaming, they can't seem to make a sound. This sets the stage for the rest of the song's message – one of hope at the end of the tunnel.

The chorus gives a message of perseverance, urging the listener to hold on, even when it feels like the end of the world. Life may not feel fair, but keeping faith in oneself during tough times will make them stronger in the end. McCurdy acknowledges the hardships may be temporary, but they feel like the listener is stuck without any hope for change. Still, with resilience comes the ability to walk through any door that opens up. The final message is one of empowerment, promising that anyone can come out the other side of the pain stronger than before.

Overall, "Stronger" is a song that encourages people to keep fighting, even when it feels like every battle is lost. The lyrics remind listeners that while they may feel alone on their journey to healing, there is always hope and that they have what it takes to overcome their struggles.

After reading her book this song just hits different

@dutchyisa

This song got me through when I was a teenager and now I hope Jennette can heal more and more and i'm so proud of her coming out her story ❤️

@mmkoogler

Her words really hit you. I have always loved this song. But I'm getting a lot of comfort from it lately while I'm going through some health issues my drs. can't figure out. These words have never felt more true. ❤💚

@mirandawyatt77

I heard this before I ever saw iCarly (my family didn't have cable growing up, and this was on a Now That's Music CD). When I finally saw an episode at a friend's house, I couldn't believe it was her! She sounds so sweet and mature here and her character Sam is bossy and aggressive. She played Sam well but that was just her character. I truly believe this song was a glimpse of the real Jennette.

@drivespix1664

I was thinking the same, how incredible the maturity of voice at that age. I think she could make it big time if she wants to do this on the side.

@ken9115

I cannot believe that I didn't discover this song until now. She's such a great singer!

@XJamesKendrick12X

Why does her YouTube music not have many likes or followers? Personally, I think her music should be in the millions range.

@alceusrydan6237

The music didn’t get as far out into the public because i think her music label isn’t that well known. Guaranteed if she was signed up with a more known music label this song at least would’ve been popular

@starswonderland6928

You deserve the world you precious soul

@christyheckman2323

This is phenomenal!
