At the age of six, Jennifer's parents divorced and she found herself taking on the responsibility of helping her mother raise her younger brother alone. Though times were tough both emotionally and financially, there wasn't anything music couldn't remedy. It wasn't until the age of 9 when Jennifer actually began to perform at talent shows.
That year Jennifer had purchased Britney Spears' very first album and began singing along by reading the lyrics. Channeling the likes of Whitney, Mariah, and Alicia, Jennifer's strong voice has allowed her to develop her own style. "My mom heard me sing the song 'Sometimes' and asked me to sing again. She noticed something different about my voice that day and encouraged me to start performing at events," she said. "Growing up I did a lot of Korean Traditional Dance so my singing voice was kind of my little secret for a while."
Since then, Jennifer has performed at numerous talent shows, weddings, rallies, basketball games, tournaments, and has played leading roles in musicals such as Lucky Stiff, The Fantasticks, and The Wiz. By her senior year of high school she was Co-Band President as well as Spring ASB President. "I took full advantage of my high school career. There's so much that is offered to us that we tend to look over. I don't want to miss any opportunities and make sure to live life to the fullest."
This past summer, Jennifer began recording videos on YouTube just for fun. Slowly the popularity of the videos grew as Jennifer watched the number of views rise each week. Casually performing contemporary hits in front of the camera, Jennifer garnered many fans and subscribers to her videos due to her down to earth persona and powerful pipes to match. Her rendition of Alicia Keys' "No One" has already soared above 3 million views and she is one of YouTube's Most Subscribed (All Time) Musicians. In December of 2007, Jennifer was the Grand Prize Winner for Broadwayworld.com's "GIVE US YOUR VOICE" contest which gave her the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to New York to watch Broadway's The Little Mermaid as well as meet the cast and composer, Alan Menken.
Debating over Berklee College of Music, UC Irvine and UC San Diego , Jennifer made the final decision of becoming an Anteater. She is currently studying Drama and has recently performed in her first UCI play, B.F.E., as Hae-Yoon.
Jennifer is currently unsigned but hopes to independently release a demo later this year.

He holds my hand in case I fall,
But I'm not scared.
No, not at all.
It feels right.
Peter's not a lover, he just fights.
He takes the , line, & sinker.
Promised her the love of her life.
Peter Pan become a man.
It's time for you to understand,
Your word play games and clever puns
Repetitive just like the sun.
Peter Pan it's time you know,
Neverland is not your home.
But Never is all you will see if you let go of me.
Peter doesn't ever want to change.
He saves you from the pouring rain,
Holds you close and expects for things to stay the same.
Peter Pan become a man.
It's time for you to understand,
Your word play games and clever puns
Repetitive just like the sun.
Peter Pan it's time you know,
Neverland is not your home.
But Never is all you will see if you let go of me.
How're you gonna lead when you clearly do not see,
And you're quick to bite the very hand that feeds.
How're you gonna know where you're supposed to go,
When you don't even know what the future holds.
You're lost.
You don't even know what you want. So I'm gone.
I know what I want.
Consider me gone.
I know what I want.
Peter Pan become a man.
It's time for you to understand,
Your word play games and clever puns
Repetitive just like the sun.
Peter Pan it's time you know,
Neverland is not your home.
But Never is all you will see if you let go of me
The lyrics to Jennifer Chung’s song ‘Lost Boy’ reflect the theme of growing up and letting go of the past. The song’s protagonist, Peter Pan, embodies a character who possesses a child-like desire to remain young and shielded from the rest of the world. Throughout the song, Chung emphasizes this sense of immaturity while also suggesting that Peter’s goals and desires conflict with reality.
The opening verse introduces Peter as someone who likes to exist in his own world, stating that he likes “to fly all through the night” implying a sense of freedom and an escape from reality that only being with his imaginary, childhood world could bring. The following line “He holds my hand in case I fall, but I'm not scared, no, not at all. It feels right” further emphasizes this child-like nature of Peter Pan since he seems to seek a comfort and security blanket in the form of a loyal companion. This signifies his inability to tackle the world alone and highlights his dependency upon those he trusts.
Later in the song, Chung sings "Peter Pan become a man. It's time for you to understand" implying that it is time for Peter to face reality instead of hiding in his childish, fictional world of Neverland. She also notes "But Never is all you will see if you let go of me," suggesting that by letting go of his past connection to the child-like wonder of Neverland, he will no longer feel any kind of connection to the real world which could result in him remaining lost for the rest of his life.
Overall, ‘Lost Boy’ is a melancholic ballad about the desire of a person to remain young and resist growing up. It portrays how holding on to childish pasts, imaginary worlds, and carefree mindsets can be a double-edged sword when it comes to navigating the harsh realities of adulthood. It challenges the listener to let go of their past and embrace the growth that comes with moving forward.
