Overall Meaning

The song โ€œMedicineโ€ by Jennifer Lopez featuring French Montana is an upbeat, pop-influenced dance track with elements of hip-hop and Latin music. The songโ€™s lyrics play with the idea of using love and attention as a form of medicine to heal relationship wounds. JLo sings about not tolerating any disrespect or mistreatment from her partner, and reminding them that she has options and can easily move on to someone else. She is confident in her desirability and holds power in the relationship dynamic. Montanaโ€™s verse adds to the songโ€™s message of self-empowerment and self-worth, as he raps about not settling for anything less than the best.

The chorus and title of the song reinforce the idea of love as medicine, with JLo offering herself as the cure for her partnerโ€™s emotional ailments. The lyrics suggest that the partner has been giving negative energy, and JLo can provide a taste of their own medicine by giving them the same treatment in return. The song is a fun and flirty take on a familiar theme in music, but with JLoโ€™s signature confidence and bluntness in her delivery. The combination of her vocals and Montanaโ€™s verse creates a dynamic and catchy track that encourages listeners to dance and sing along.

@Zayn You took the words out of my moouth!! Ghadd that trap and overused synthetic pop beats are so annoying and so basic. They remind me of the toxic teens on Twitter.

I can't really assure you of the similar J-Lo vibe but there are pop and r&b songs today that have throwback beats. They only differ from their styles though. If you don't mind, listen and lemme know what you think.

Little Mix - Wasabi (This is the best example)
Little Mix - Love a Girl Right
Little Mix - Strip
P!nk - Better Life
P!nk - Hustle
rIVerse - Rock Wit You
Kelly Clarkson - Medicine
Westlife - Better Man
2 Chainz - Rule the World (feat. Ariana Grande)
Avril Lavigne - Bigger Wow (kinda 2006 vibe but still) - and other songs from her new album
Anne-Marie - 2002 (the element is there)
James Morrisson - My Love Goes On (The style is different but it still reminds me of the past)
Charli XCX - 1999 (a bit of old electro pop)
Austin Mahone - Why Don't We (NSync vibe)
Busted - Nineties (pop punk?)
Busted - Radio
And some songs from Backstreet Boy's new album I guess??

There are still some new songs that I haven't mentioned. I just hope my suggestions were useful especially to those who love new tracks with early 2000's vibe. Let's bring 'em back. :)

I don't understand why this doesn't have more views. It's such a fun song.

@BboyZoinks

It sucks

@MARK-ni9oc

Because she released a song that sounds like it was from 2014 in 2019. Aside from her vocals which sound great on it., the song is extremely unmelodic and awkward.

@jsoto11181

I know JLO is super, super famous, but itโ€™s truly dawning on me that she is super duper iconically legendary famous. Doing things at a high level for 25 to 30 years.

@segura2112

And not slowing down!
