Somewhere Someday
Jennifer Paige Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When clouds above you start to pour
And all of doubts rage like a storm
And you don't know who you are anymore
Let me help you find what you've been searching for

Somewhere there's a field and a river
You can let your soul run free
Someday let me be the giver
Let me bring you peace
Somewhere there's a break in the weather
Where your heart and spirit go free
Someday it'll be for the better
Let me bring you peace

I know you think no one sees
The weight on your shoulders
But you can't fool me
And aren't you tired of standing so tall
Let me the one to catch you when you fall

Somewhere there's a field and a river
You can let your soul run free
Someday let me be the giver
Let me bring you peace
Somewhere there's a break in the weather
Where your heart and spirit go free
Someday it'll be for the better
Let me bring you peace

Let me bring you joy, let me bring you peace
Take the tears that you cry, trust them to me

Let me give you heart, and give you hope
Be the one constant love that you've never known

Overall Meaning

Jennifer Paige's "Somewhere Someday" is a song about finding hope and peace in times of struggle. The opening verse describes a stormy period in one's life, when doubts hang heavily like clouds overhead. The line "You don't know who you are anymore" speaks to the loss of identity that can come with feeling overwhelmed. But there is someone offering to help, someone who wants to guide the listener towards a place of calm and clarity. The chorus centers around the idea of "Somewhere" - a vague, yet comforting concept that suggests that there is an ideal destination out there that can provide solace. The field and the river are metaphors for this place, representing a space where the soul can run free. The imagery is evocative of nature and tranquility, offering a sense of escape from the pressures of the world. The song is a reminder to listeners in difficult times that there is always the possibility of finding peace if they are willing to accept help.

The second verse of the song delves deeper into the struggles the listener is facing. It acknowledges that they might feel unseen and misunderstood, but it also offers rest and comfort. The line "Aren't you tired of standing so tall" speaks to the exhaustion that can come from trying to keep a brave face in tough circumstances. The singer offers to catch the listener when they fall, providing a sense of safety and security. The references to joy, peace, tears, heart, and hope all contribute to the idea that the singer is offering an all-encompassing support system rather than a quick fix.

Overall, "Somewhere Someday" taps into the universal desire for hope and reassurance in difficult times. The vague, dreamlike quality of the lyrics is intentional - it leaves room for interpretation and allows each listener to fill in the details of what "Somewhere" might mean to them.

I like both *NSYNC & Jennifer’s versions. They are both great!! I like the different interpretations & vocal inflections they each used in their versions. 💖💖💖

You Tube

This version hits differently than N'sync version.

Abdigani Omar

Good song

b3ans4eva

This could have been on the first Pokémon movie soundtrack instead of the *NSYNC version.

FocusWokish

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks Nsync version is better is out of their mind

Traci Barnett

First time hearing this. The *NSYNC version is much better.

Larielle

@Simi Bro You don't get more soulful and powerful than JC's delivery when it comes to a pop song.

Larielle

@LucNorth84 Same. I actually cried the first time I heard *NSYNC's version as a struggling tween. It still moves me as an adult. This one is okay, but *NSYNC took a campy pop song and made me feel it.

LucNorth84

Weird, *NSYNC's version sounds more soulful and powerful to me. JC Chasez brings it 💯. The chorus on Jennifer's version sounds weak.

Simi Bro

This is soulful and powerful. Their version is an empty pop.
