Now That I Found You
Jennifer Rush Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So amazing somehow
I believe it now
Without ever knowing for sure
Never before until now

That a woman like me can find understanding
I can walk alone, proud to be strong
But now that I found you
Here's my life, my soul
Everytime you take my hand
My heart is in it

Until I found you
Never knew what it meant to belong
You open your arms and love unfolds
I'm forever yours

I stand before you now
Gazing at tenderness
Hearing the sound of your voice
I am defenceless

How can a woman like me find understanding
Don't want to walk alone, no
I surrender

Now that I found you
Here's my life, my soul
Everytime you take my hand
My heart is in it

Until I found you
Never knew what it means to find love
And where I can cross over that border
To forever, we're already there

Now that I found you
Here's my life, my soul
Everytime you take my hand
Ooh my heart is in it

Until I found you...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Jennifer Rush's "Now That I Found You" can be interpreted as a love song about the singer's newfound understanding, love, and belonging through their relationship with a partner. The song suggests that the singer never fully understood themselves or their place in the world until they found their significant other. The line "Without ever knowing for sure / Never before until now" implies that the singer was uncertain about whether they would ever find true love or belonging before they met their partner.

The lyrics also suggest that the singer was happy being alone and strong before finding love. However, now that they have found someone they love, they no longer want to walk alone and are willing to surrender to their partner.

The phrase "Everytime you take my hand / My heart is in it" reinforces the idea that the singer's relationship is a powerful force in their life. The final line, "To forever, we're already there," reflects an optimism in the singer's view of their future with their partner.

Overall, "Now That I Found You" is a romantic song about the transformative power of love in a person's life.

I “missed” Jennifer in her prime—in fact, I only discovered her 3 months ago. I am a big fan of Celine and only discovered Jennifer because I came across Celine’s cover of Power of Love including Jennifer. I couldn’t believe my ears.
I’m 85 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Connie Francis, Laura Branigan, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle.
But, Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. And she sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian.
She also studied piano and violin at Juilliard. She has written or co-written the lyrics and music for many of her songs, done duets with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Elton John, and Brian May—sorry—Sir Brian May, Michael Bolton, and performed live all over the world—but not in America, except in March and April 1986 on the Carson show and the Dick Clark Show; that’s it.
Why is she the best? Effortless high range: (look at Celine’s cover with Jennifer singing “Power of Love” to see the ease with which Jennifer handles the highest notes.) Listen to “Who Wants to Live Forever” (with or without Brian—Sir Brian—May) as well as “Stronghold”, “Another Way”, “Hero of a Fool”, “I Come Undone”, “Now That It’s Over”, and many more.
With her operatic training (her father, Maurice Stern (Mauro Lampi) and step-mother Rita Loving), she developed a superior vibrato, appropriate body language, and perfect interpretation, and because she wrote or co-wrote most of her songs, she injects them with a personal load of musical endorphins that hit your ears and your heart at the same time.
Yes. If Jennifer had decided to live her life in the US, she would still be in Las Vegas or on tour.
