Still
Jennifer Rush Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Heal this heart that you're saving
Let these words be free
Like pieces of me
Let them burn away through these spaces
When the last days have come
And it's all said and done
No distance so far
Could keep us apart
Let the world en
But I'll love you still
Sweet perfect surrender
We'll keep falling forever
Let our hearts be free
Like we're meant to be
Let the light they shine bring it back to me
When the last days have come
And it's all said and done
You will still be the one I belong to
No distance so far
Could keep us apart
Let the world en
But I'll love you still
Stay in my arms till the sunrise
Stay in my heart for a lifetime
Heaven could fall but I will
Love you still
When the last days have come
And it's all said and done
You will still be the one I belong to
No distance so far
Could keep us apart
Let the world en
But I'll love you still.
In Jennifer Rush's song "Still," the lyrics express a deep and unwavering love that persists in the face of anything that may come. The promise made in the opening lines is to heal and save the heart of the person being sung to, to let the words of love and devotion flow freely like pieces of the singer's own being, burning away through the spaces between them. Even when the end of days comes and everything is said and done, the person being sung to will still be the one who the singer belongs to. No distance, no matter how far, could ever keep them apart, and even if the world were to end, the singer would still love the other person. The surrender of two hearts falling forever in love is sweet and perfect, a love that is meant to be free and boundless. The final refrain is a plea to stay together until the end of time, with the promise that even if heaven itself were to fall, the love between them would remain strong.
Overall, the lyrics of "Still" convey a sense of unwavering love in the face of any adversity, whether it be distance, the end of the world, or the passage of time. The singer promises to be there for the person they love, to support and care for them, and to love them unconditionally through it all.

I “missed” Jennifer in her prime—in fact, I only discovered her 2 months ago. I am a big fan of Celine and only discovered Jennifer because I came across Celine’s cover of POL including Jennifer. I couldn’t believe my ears.
I’m 84 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Connie Francis, Laura Branigan, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle.
But, Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. And she sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian.
She also studied piano and violin at Juilliard. She has written or co-written the lyrics and music for many of her songs, done duets with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Elton John and Brian May—sorry—Sir Brian May, Michael Bolton, and performed live all over the world—but not in America, except in March and April 1986 on the Carson show and the Dick Clark Show; that’s it.
Why is she the best? Effortless high range: (look at Celine’s cover with Jennifer singing “Power of Love” to see the ease with which Jennifer handles the highest notes.) Listen to “Who Wants to Live Forever” (with or without Brian—Sir Brian—May) as well as “Stronghold”, “Another Way”, “Hero of a Fool”, “I come Undone” and many more.
With her operatic training (her father, Maurice Stern (Mauro Lampi) and step-mother Rita Loving) she developed a superior vibrato, appropriate body language, and perfect interpretation, and because she wrote or co-wrote most of her songs, she injects them with a personal load of musical endorphins that hit your ears and your heart at the same time.
Yes. If Jennifer had decided to live her life in the US, she would still be in Las Vegas or on tour.
