Thought to have been born in London in 1674, Clarke was a pupil of John Blow at St Paul's Cathedral. He later became organist at the Chapel Royal. "A violent and hopeless passion for a very beautiful lady of a rank superior to his own" caused him to commit suicide by shooting himself. He was succeeded in his post by William Croft.
Clarke is now best remembered for the popular keyboard piece attributed to him, the "Prince of Denmark's March", commonly called the Trumpet Voluntary and attributed for a long time to Henry Purcell. The piece is actually taken from the semi-opera The Island Princess, a joint musical production of Clarke and Daniel Purcell (Henry Purcell's younger brother), which is probably the reason for the confusion.

Can someone please tell me where I can find the complete sheet music for this piece? I have searched so many websites, but they all have a version that ends as soon as the main theme is stated. Where can I get the music that actually has the new material at 1:13?

Today's Classical Corner... Clarke!
A popular composer/organist around the dawn of the 18th Cent. This is one of his (if not, The) best-known compostions, wrongly credited as "Purcell's Trumpet Voluntary. "Let's face it, either way it could easily replace the existing Champions' League theme, but do give enormous credit where credit is due! Clarke has been played at more nuptials in the English-speaking world than anyone but Wagner or Mendelssohn. Amazing.

The Trumpet Voluntary is also known as The Prince of Denmark’s March. It’s the one entirely by Clarke and wrongly attributed to Henry Purcell.
This is the Trumpet Tune in D. It’s also wrongly attributed to Henry Purcell, and is also partly by Clarke, but it’s a collaboration between Jeremiah Clarke and Daniel Purcell, who was Henry’s son or nephew or something.
The two pieces don’t sound alike at all. It’s frustrating their names seem similarish to folks like us.

At our wedding, our organist, a personal friend and a music professor at UCLA, used this for the entry of the bridesmaids, then switched to the Trump Voluntary for the bride.
