Joy to the World
Jeremy Camp (Holiday) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Joy to the world! The Lord is come
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart
Prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and heaven and nature sing
Joy to the world, the Savior reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods
Rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Christ is born
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Christ is born

For unto us a child is born
Unto us a Son is given
And He will be called
Wonderful Councillor
The mighty God
The everlasting Father
The Prince of Peace

The weight of the world on His shoulders
And His kingdom will never end
The weight of the world on His shoulders
And His kingdom will never end

He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders and wonders of His love

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Christ is born

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Christ is born

Overall Meaning

Jeremy Camp's version of Joy To The World is a song brimming with joy and praises to the Lord. In the first verse, the lyrics celebrate Christ's arrival on earth as a King, and encourage the world to welcome Him with open hearts. The second verse describes the Savior reigning over the earth, and the natural world bursting in expressions of joy. The refrain, which is repeated several times throughout the song, declares that Christ is born, and invites people to join in singing hallelujahs to celebrate this good news.

The third verse is a reference to a prophecy in the Old Testament book of Isaiah, which foretold the coming of a child who would be a "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." The weight of the world that this child would shoulder is an allusion to the gravity of the task that Christ was sent to accomplish: to save humanity from sin and death. Despite the difficult mission, His everlasting kingdom would never end. Finally, the last verse talks about how Christ governs the world with truth and love, and how this leads to the world recognizing the glories of His righteousness and wonders of His love.

I'm compelled to tell everyone that you must repent of your sinful nature and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ. I'll explain how: acknowledging how horrible you have been in God's eyes then have faith in God with a willingness to lay your life down for God so follow through with good works (serve in LOVE) to show God how much you want to change. Seek God with everything knowing you will die and yet live with Faith in God. Then repentance may be granted to you that being the free gift of God (Holy Spirit). You will be persecuted and yet live, you will suffer tremendously and may even wish for death but endure it!! You will be witnesses to the TRUTH and the TRUTH will set you free from the law of sin and death.

It's extremely difficult because it's not our own doing it's the gift of God, so that none may boast!!! Why lie to yourself and think you're saved if you are unwilling to become a living sacrifice that is acceptable in God's eyes?

For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision. No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by the Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.
