December 19, 1975) is an award-winning American composer from Keokuk, Iowa and a prolific composer of orchestral videogame scores. Soule's soundtracks are often critically acclaimed as being among the best in the computer and video games industry and as rivaling the quality of many orchestral film soundtracks. A large percentage of Soule's music is done electronically and emulates real orchestral music so well that it is frequently indistinguishable from the real thing. He often collaborates with his brother, Julian Soule, with whom he also founded DirectSong; a company that sells DRM-free downloads of several classical composers, including Jeremy's own compositions.

Soule has been working in the music industry since 1994 when he became an employee of Square. He then left to join Humongous Entertainment, where he composed for several children's games as well as Total Annihilation, his first award-winning score. He left to form his own music production company, Soule Media in 2000, now called Artistry Entertainment. Through this company Soule has created several award-winning soundtracks. In 2005 he founded DirectSong. Soule's works have been played in several live concerts such as the Symphonic Game Music Concert in Germany and the international Play! A Video Game Symphony concert series.

A change in musical style may be felt by listeners of his compositions past 2005. As Soule had a near-death experience in a car crash about which he reportedly stated in an interview for FiringSquad: "I ended up rolling in my car several times on an interstate while flying headlong into oncoming traffic ... I felt no fear ... I simply just acknowledged to myself that I've had a good life and I would soon have to say goodbye to all of it in a matter of seconds".

He has produced and composed music for:

Jeremy Soule recently took legal action against KHInsider, a website dedicated to digital music piracy. The owner of the site decided to remove the offending material in order to avoid being sued by Soule, who was not only trying to have his own music removed, but all the music on the site. At the same time, many customers of DirectSong have had been waiting months if not years for their physical CDs to arrive and so some filed a lawsuits against DirectSong. DirectSong no longer offers its music in physical media.

As long as Bethesda continues to make Elder Scrolls games, they just need to include Soule in them. To me, the Elder Scrolls games has always been about the atmosphere and how easy it is to get immersed in them. Most of this comes from the absolutely awe inspiring music by Jeremy Soule. May you live long and well, Jeremy. Your works has influenced my life in so many ways. And i hope it continues to be that way for a very long time.

@Jake Cal They do, its confirmed. Inon Zur is a good composer, without a doubt, but Jeremy Soul is not good, he is unbelievable great. His ability to create an atmosphere is unmatched. Elder Scrolls 6 will have a soundtrack like Elder Scrolls Online.... good, but not like "i am getting goosebumps from this"- great. And that means, that the game will also just be good, not awesome (at least for me).

My god man, the part from 16:10 to 16.27 (Jata) just hits dead center in my Skyrim sweetspot. So beautiful! Actually, the whole part from 15:54 to 17.06 has a sense of happy-skippy-hopping along the road westwards from Whiterun on a sunny day, catching butterflies, picking flowers, inserting arrows into deer's backsides and chopping wolves to death.
Kind of the same vibe as The Road Most Travelled and Caprice from the Morrowind OST. Those are very Morrowindy. :-)

When i hear this, i think only of the northern nature; The vast forests of Canada, the mountains, cliffs, waterfalls and stave churches of Norway, the geysers and hot springs of Iceland, the seemingly never ending land stretches of Russia, and the treeless tundra where the world ends... This music encompasses all of the Nordic winter; Harsh, merciless, cold and empty and yet full of beauty, melancholy and minimalism. Jeremy Soule is truly the composer of the North.

To be honest, Jeremy is the reason I even bothered learning violin and piano. His music is so atmospheric and beautiful. It had a huge impact on my musical skills, and it has helped me through some pretty rough times. I especially like the theme songs to most of the games he composed for. They're either really epic ( cough skyrim cough cough ) or epic. And I just wanted to say thanks. I know he is probably not reading this or ever gonna. Just wanted to say that.

Jeremy Soule is what all artists should try to become : a craftsman of emotions. Everything he does has a purpose, each note is thought.
As a music composer, I listen a lot to what others do, and sadly I see that most only care about creating epic music for the sake of it, but they neglect the ambience, they neglect the soul of the music.

There is nothing wrong with 'epic' music. It has its function for the right scenes and right moments. I think what you are saying is that ambient music is beauitful and has a sense of romance and mystery to it, which is what Jeremy is incredible at doing. Epic music has emotion too. It is all emotion and evocative. All you are saying is that you prefer one emotion, and music pacing, over another. Which is great.

I do like epic music, and I think all kind of music should coexist. What I dislike is the 'fashion' around epic music, making it dull and lifeless.
Epic music can be awesome. Just take Skyrim theme as an example. We all like it, and we can remember it. Can we do the same with almost any other epic stuff you can find on Youtube? No. It has no soul. Their only purpose is to make noise and use the same overused patterns. That's basically the pop version of orchestral.
Again, epic music can be great and full of emotions WoW OST has good examples of a great epic feel. That's just too bad composers don't want to make efforts and take risks in composing something different.

I found out literally yesterday that Jeremy Soule was the composer of the entire Guild Wars (including Prophecies) soundtrack. Of course he did the soundtrack for Skyrim too, as it only makes sense that THAT composition was entirely beautiful apart from the game. When I was a young man, Guild Wars had such a profound impact on me (yea its that serious) because not only has gaming been a passion but it has connected me to some of my best friends in my later years. Remember Teamspeak? Remember hanging out at "Droks" ? Does anyone feel me!!?? This music would play on my old shitty dell when I was 13 and nothing else mattered in life but my locker and cheetos...that time will never come back but dammit does it feel close when I hear Jeremy Soules music.

I know it's been a while since you posted this ... But it's the exact same thing for me. I was 13 when I started playing GW1 and hearing the music now, years later, fills me with so many emotions. I'm barely able to describe them. I also played it with my two best friends from school back then and we are still very close.
Back then it was "hard" as a girl to simply play video games I guess without being mocked for it, but I just didnt care :D Thank god.

Guild Wars was ahead of its time, especially in graphics and Soule's score really fit with it. Too many memories from that game. Tanked with every character, including the ones you weren't supposed to. Would party up with 7 other monks and dance in THK for hours while AFK, with parties furiously trying to invite a monk. Bunny thumping. Running Elona's with 5 warriors and a monk. Was sad when I saw what GW2 was going to be and have never touched it. It's fun to go back and listen to Soule's work from KOTOR as well.

I remember first hearing Jeremy Soule in the Secret of Evermore as a teen. Fell in love with his style and have followed him ever since. The clouds are a uniform blanket of gray haze with spread out features hardly distinguishable here and there. As i gaze upon the sky an airplane from the nearby airport takes flight. It appears as a phantasm through the low clouds, briefly disappearing in some denser patch of fog only to become visible again a split second later, all while it slowly fades; it's image slowly merging with the gray haze of the sky as it rises to new heights. And I can't help but think how perfect the music fits into this picture.

3:35. that part was used in a Skyrim song, probably made even more beautiful there and one of my favourite parts in all of Skyrim music.

13:00 makes me imagine a bright lit blue and white misty kinda big church with people singing choir as you're looking and moving closer to going all the way downstairs on the left side until you are slowly noticed by them. A white dove flying up symbol on a huge stained glass circle above them on the wall with moonlight shining through. I'm saving this here.. also there's moss hanging down the ceiling above and around them.

I listen to the Elder Scrolls music (Oblivon, Morrowind, or Skyrim) almost every day. I hope Elder Scrolls 6 will have Soule included. If the game is bad it can be fixed by modders (I mean bugs not story stuff) but if the music isn't Soule, then I don't know If i'll be able to play the game... :/

It's not just about Skyrim. Jeremy Soule also took part in composing music for WoW Mists of Pandaria. His part of the expansion's music is very recognizable, and of course majestic.

Just listening 12 minutes inot this, I already purchased album. Lucky me I found this one on day it was released. I have been hooked on mr. Soule's I got first Elder Scrolls and Never Winter Nights. In Skyrim I just walk around, explore the beautiful world while listening music. Finally I can have his album and support his work also this way.

Just to think this album comprises of left over, imperfect musical ideas Jeremy wished not to include in his symphony just makes me shiver with awe. I cannot wait how great and powerful the real symphony will roll out. Thank you big time for the upload, Soule never ceases to amaze.
