The Atavist

Something about Jeremy Soule's music, especially his work in Skyrim, captures a certain indescribable mystic essence--a feeling of deep inner peace. There's simply a level of atmosphere and even magic to his work that really propels him above the dregs of most video game and movie composers.

@The Atavist Thanks. He's certainly a good romantic revivalist ....for me, Soule's biggest contribution is the way he mixes field recordings / nature sounds with his orchestra so effortlessly's a type of situation that only arises in video game music really, but he does it far better than anyone else....his ear for peaceful melodies is quite good. Nothing revolutionary but undeniably pleasant

@Cola Holy shit, you described Jeremy's style PERFECTLY. Debussy's lush orchestration mixed with a Wagnerian flavor of chordage and atmosphere. Most composers try to imitate Hans Zimmer, but it ends up being a senseless flurry of muddy percussive stringlets. But I guess that's art...only a few originals and the rest are just trying to imitate.

Yes, truly peaceful music

My brother, I feel exactly what you say. I used to always, and to this day, drink green tea or chamomile and relax while listening to his music, like the bannered mare and the streets of whiterun are my favourite from skyrim, and glory of cyrodil from oblivion :D

it's his dedication to the composers of the Romantic period who sought to elicit the strongest possible emotional feeling from their music--(at the cost of what preoccupied Classical, Baroque and Medieval composers and their differing yet just as lofty ideals and just as conducive ambitions). Soule is heavily indebted to Debussy, for instance. It's almost as if Debussy were "popularized" into the 3 min song format, and given Wagnerian overtones (figurative not literal)

you have a skyrim song with a witcher 3 image. blasphemy!

@Zael Garviel Cant compare them, totally different types of games, its like comparing C&C and CS GO, both have shooting, but have different focus and style of gameplay.

Both are great.

Zael Garviel

A great music with a great (better than skyrim) rpg

Lol :D
