December 19, 1975) is an award-winning American composer from Keokuk, Iowa and a prolific composer of orchestral videogame scores. Soule's soundtracks are often critically acclaimed as being among the best in the computer and video games industry and as rivaling the quality of many orchestral film soundtracks. A large percentage of Soule's music is done electronically and emulates real orchestral music so well that it is frequently indistinguishable from the real thing. He often collaborates with his brother, Julian Soule, with whom he also founded DirectSong; a company that sells DRM-free downloads of several classical composers, including Jeremy's own compositions.

Soule has been working in the music industry since 1994 when he became an employee of Square. He then left to join Humongous Entertainment, where he composed for several children's games as well as Total Annihilation, his first award-winning score. He left to form his own music production company, Soule Media in 2000, now called Artistry Entertainment. Through this company Soule has created several award-winning soundtracks. In 2005 he founded DirectSong. Soule's works have been played in several live concerts such as the Symphonic Game Music Concert in Germany and the international Play! A Video Game Symphony concert series.

A change in musical style may be felt by listeners of his compositions past 2005. As Soule had a near-death experience in a car crash about which he reportedly stated in an interview for FiringSquad: "I ended up rolling in my car several times on an interstate while flying headlong into oncoming traffic ... I felt no fear ... I simply just acknowledged to myself that I've had a good life and I would soon have to say goodbye to all of it in a matter of seconds".

He has produced and composed music for:

Jeremy Soule recently took legal action against KHInsider, a website dedicated to digital music piracy. The owner of the site decided to remove the offending material in order to avoid being sued by Soule, who was not only trying to have his own music removed, but all the music on the site. At the same time, many customers of DirectSong have had been waiting months if not years for their physical CDs to arrive and so some filed a lawsuits against DirectSong. DirectSong no longer offers its music in physical media.

I was never much of a gamer till my best friend told me about this game. I played it and it opened the door for my love of fantasy, gaming and writing. All these years later, whenever i am in a stump, I log in and walk through my guild hall, my menagerie, or play with one of my newer characters just to reminisce. This game aged like fine wine and i am sad it doesn't get many more updates these days, but this franchise has been a big part of my younger years and now that GW2's main narrative is over, i am torn between saying goodbye or staying around, you know?

I don't know why but I have such vivid memories of my time playing GW already 16 years ago. What a pleasure to hear the music again. It was indeed a marvelous community. But passed time is forever lost! Maybe one day I'll replay it but I think the magic of our youths is vanished : the experience will be completely different.

Brother, I thought the same and then 2 hears ago, I got a fresh new account to do the ironman challenge (All campaigns from first released to last, no heroes and no help from anyone not doing the ironman challenge, Bonus point if you go for Defender of Ascalon, reach lv20 in Eden) and let me tell you, it wasn't that far away from discovering it for the first time. Even now, 2 years later I want to do it again. Simply google Iron man challenge guild wars if you're curious!

the feels. this was my first MMO. no sub fee just pay and play. I was absolutely blown away by it and met some pretty nice people along the way. Fantastic score. Fantastic game. Too bad GW2 just didn't capture the same feeling.

@Mr x RocknRoll So my story on GW2 is how amazing it was to come back. I was a high end raider and absolutely despised their lack of content, I just kinda sat around the aerodrome FC'ing raids weekly and hating on Arenanet. I quit and came back after over 8 months. I must say I was amazed how everything was still the same, like I never quit, and I explored the world and level'd up all over again, and I must say, the atmosphere and solo map exploration is amazingly therapuetic, just amazing. I wholeheartedly think that NCsoft is part of Arenanets mistakes, I have no evidence to back that up but I wish Arenanet was its own company with no higher ups, I believe that would make it better but no evidence to back it up. I just know hear about how greedy some asian companies can be when it comes to making money like NCsoft, and I guess really, all companies.

GW was just an overall better game than the sequel, I was immediately disappointed that they didn't bring over the skill system and its endless possibilities of builds. Also GW2 is too easy, all who fought and died in thunderhead keep will approve, we lost so many good men out there.

This is it. This is why I fell in love with GW back in the day. I didn't know it until more recently, but now I know why the connection is so strong for me. Jeremy Soule's first game was Secret of Evermore, which is one of my most favorite and beloved games ever, and the music in Eye of the Storm is so reminiscent of Ivor Tower/Ebon Keep and parts of Nobilia. So much atmosphere.

Yes, i remember, when i had a better pc, during 8-10 i'm 00' but back then my father was working at IT, we've loved building pc's this sountrack just bring a tear to my eye and i can call it my beginning of gaming. Truly the game i should be proud of, i can't call my english perfect but this game just threw me in so many conversations, about how my working through the keys are, couse you know back then when you wanted someone in the pvp guild u test by press a and d i've met so many ppl just by this little engagements, and we've traded minipets all the way through, even when i wasn't in guild (i was bad at the game just from builds) but it was my adventure through the story couse i wasn't caring about it at all. The thing that hooked me in this game, was me buying factions for the first time and getting warrior our, going on arena, and our struggling to just win the arena, revives, fighting just so many good memories. When Nightfall came, after a year delay couse i had no money to buy it, my father just out of nowhere for christmas bought it for me, exploring of the lore and everyone on chat spamming was just something you would'nt get from other mmo like wow, but it had a subscription and my parents didnt't want me to play that (not mentioning private servers). Loved the game, just whish if anything was remastered is this game, like for real so much fucking potential,, the best pvp i've seen to this day just working combining the classes, would love to see this comeback. We in the era of live combat so it won't happen but this, it made it special and i love it....

The PVP in Guild Wars 1 was something that I personally enjoyed a lot. Remembering the cheesy builds like IWAY - VimWAY - E/A Nuke etc. I remember people showing off their rank emotes and it was so exciting every single time to fight the last battle in the beautiful HoH the golden arena and shit your pants 7 colors when you could only see Korean names.

I m 32 now, I started GW when I was 18 and, since then, I played a lot of games, but this one is, for me, the best ever. I met a lot of friends on it and the community was realy great, we had so much fun, the best moments of my gamer life. This game was so ahead of his time, the PvP is still the best and one of the most tactical I played, it was before the streaming realy started to be a "thing".

My most vivid memory was leaving Pre Searing the first time. I hadn't done any spoiling, so the shock was real and literally stopped me in my tracks. I've never been as effected by an in-game event. Or had such an enduring hatred for a pixellated race, I can't stand the retcon Charr in GW2. I actually deleted that character and spent more time in Pre on the next one. Such an amazing game, I would actually stay in the final instance of each campaign and roll all of the credits, the music was so good.

My favourite track - there's something really special about completing Sanctum Cay and ending up in the Crystal Desert. It's a real sense of achievement and you're greeted with this wonderful piece of music. The desert missions were the most fun as well, in my opinion.

We got together in a 6 man group a few years ago and took the weekend off, sat in my room and played Prophecies on our laptops and PCs together, it was tons of fun. Like you did, only using weapons and stuff we found on our way, we only used the storage once near the end to get the best armor for our characters because we couldn't bother to start farming the money and material needed.

Me and 2 friends did it aswell. We created a new character and played the whole prophecies campain, every quest, without using the storage. We only used, what we found, but we shared inside our group. It was sooo much fun! We had this 2 hours on sunday evening, and it was amazing :) I hope we will play factions... but the times changed.. when gw1 came out, we had much easier lifes with school..... oh damn... these goosebumps again :) Gw1 will always be a part of me, somehow.. strange :) <3

Une pépite, un jeu exigeant, poussant à la réflexion, proposant de véritables défis à ceux qui souhaitaient les relever, sans pour autant être chronophage, ce qui révélait une vrai éthique dans la conception même du jeu! Le PvP était en avance sur son temps, a ravirait même les joueurs de moba actuel avec des petites retouches: il était si complet et exigeant, peut-être trop élitiste hélas pour l'époque.... Mais ces musiques me rendent si nostalgique! un vrai retour en enfance, sublimé par la beauté des morceaux que je croyais avoir oublié, mais qui on une résonance si particulière pour nous qui avons parcourus cet univers merveilleux, à la direction artistique formidable en tout point de vu!

This music is so beautiful, I am just in awe of how moving it is. GW pre will always be my favorite, but post is pretty amazing too. It has such a great story, and I love how the teaming of party's are made up. It is so much more personal than any other game out there, including gw 2, although I play that too, and like it for different reasons. I met some pretty cool people over seas thanks to gw, and for that I will be forever grateful, but gw, along with the first additions, will forever be my family, and I will stick to that...much love to all GW players...First, and second. <3

This music brings back so many memories of my early childhood! there is so much nostalgia! AHHH can't hold it in, it's a spine-chilling retake on some of the most exciting memories as a 10 year old playing this lol; GW2 is amazing, however, just isn't the same as GW1

This game was part of my childhood. I discovered it thanks to a friend. I loved playing it, however I must admit I really sucked at it.. (I was 13 and I didn't know what I was doing ahah, especially in pvp) and it's probably the only thing that left a bitter taste. I would absolutely love to time travel and play it again like it was back in time, but as the 25 yo dude I am now. Ah if only they'd remake it.. if only :)

I'm not sure a remake would be able to capture the same feeling. The game has aged considerably, but I don't feel like Guild Wars 2 quite beat it. Don't get me wrong, I also liked Guild Wars 2 but it didn't feel quite the same.

I will never forget my first steps in Ascalon, the beginning of everything. Walking out of the gate, killing my first Ridgeback Scale.

This game totally marked my childhood. I won't ever forget the first time I got in touch with this game. The feels are just way too strong. I remember playing this game when it was on BETA and I didn't even know how to read english, (since I was only 8 years old). I'd really love to see a comeback on this game. It has such a potential. :')

This is great. GW's was a fun game, with memories attached to those years... Providing another example of a gaming soundtrack series from Mr. Soule, that truly enhanced the gameplay. This was approx. 6 years or so before Skyrim came out (Guild War Prophecies) and Jeremy has continued to elevate his music since.

I've been in love with this soundtrack since I've first heard it while downloading content in the public betas test. I don't play Guild Wars anymore but still use this music for high fantasy board games. Mage Knight and Runewars come to mind.

When listening to this soundtrack it takes me back in time, and I know exactly where my character is standing within the game world just by the current masterpiece track that is playing. One of the most memorable for me is the crystal desert sound track so beautiful.

I played this game when I was 4 years old. Probably my first ever gaming experience (if you don't count those old Jumpstart learning computer programs) and to this day, I think it is the only game I can praise as 100% perfect.

I do not see ANY flaws to this game, even the graphics aren't that bad. Hearing this is like nostalgia running into my ears. Without this game I would literally be a completely different person.

And without Guild Wars 2: Electric Boogaloo existing, I would be a much better person.

I remember those times very fondly, sitting in a group with a few people for a good chunk of time, just chatting to pass the time and like you said, everyone who got a run was always genuinely grateful and tipped. Such a different vibe from today in MMOs where no one talks outside of guilds/cliques and if you want to go somewhere or do a thing you just click a button and it finds you a group ezpz. GW1 had a really great take on group-based content, zoning into a hub specifically just for getting the group together was a cool experience. It's almost like a proto-LFG queue where you still had to interact with people to get in groups but it was still a little more streamlined. Really miss the days of GW1, nothing else has ever quite hit the same.

Thank you so much for posting these tracks. I need to know where to buy these as collection myself. This was my 1st mmo and I am glad it was. It was perfect game for me. This sound track is a bit beyond the game.. I haven't played the game in some years but I still listen to this often.. i listen to a lot of Classical Music.. why hasn't this been nominated as one of the greatest compositions since.. Stravinsky or Orffs Carmina Burana.. Swelling Fears, childish improv, rushing patriotism, historic tributes, .. Soule is a talent who, like Glass and Brahms does the right emotional notes at the exact moments we want to hear. Brilliant.
