He resigned from teaching after realizing there was a calling on his life in entreating people to God through his music. He decided to go full time in music as a recording artist where he did his first cd, Island Worship. It was a success being in the top 3 selling gospel cd's in Jamaica. As an independent artist It was one of the most played local gospel album,.
This cd brought him to nine states in America, Turks and Caucos, booked a show for The Cayman Islands and England. He now has a second album, A Closer Walk Island Worship 2 which speaks to all age groups pointing them to God. The incredible rise of his career shows the love that people have for his music and now becoming a sought after minister helping youths focus in there every day walk with God. Edwards says a grammy would be nice or some other award but what would be more important would be the ability to go into a school every morning and do devotion with good a sound system proclaiming Gods name so that His name would be lifted on high and youths would be drawn to Him. When that happens his task on earth would be accomplished.

Johnny
Johhny used to go to church when he had no money in his pocket
Johnny was always faithful in his work whenever the door was open he was at church
Johnny's prayer was lord bless me I need a job I'm on my face
God bless johnny with a job he was not qualified for now he hardly find time for church.
Jonny remember where you coming from
And where your life could have been
God bless you with a better life and now you hardly have time for him
Rept x2
When you were nothing you used to walk in his presence, slowly patient waiting on him
Now you have a degree, a master, and a PHD then you try to contradict everything
Remember, when you were on your knees saying lord, I need a car
If you bless me, I would come to church more often
God bless you and where did you park?
cho
Johnny remember where you coming from
And where your life could have been
God bless you with a better life and now you hardly have time for him
ohhh
Rept x2
You used to pray before you go to bed
Even thank him for, every little a slice a bread
Remember when you couldn't afford to buy a shoes
Now you can buy any style, and any colour that you choose
Why can't you teach your children how to pray
Your mother taught you that's why you even blessed you today
Satan trying hard to keep you occupied
But God has been so good, he has never left your side.

Johnny remember where you coming from

The song "Johnny" by Jermaine Edwards is a powerful reflection on the way that success and material possessions can change a person's relationship with God. The song tells the story of Johnny, a man who used to go to church faithfully even when he was struggling financially. Johnny's prayers were focused on finding a job and providing for himself and his family. God answered Johnny's prayers and gave him a job that he was not qualified for, but as a result, Johnny became so consumed with his work that he hardly has time for church anymore.
The lyrics of the song encourage Johnny to remember where he came from and the struggles that he faced before achieving success. The song suggests that Johnny should not forget the role that God played in his life when he was struggling, and to remain faithful even when things are going well. The message of the song remains relevant in today's world where it is easy to get caught up in the materialistic aspects of life and forget the spiritual side of things.
Overall, "Johnny" is a powerful and inspirational song that reminds us to keep our faith even when we achieve success.

The first time I heard this song I was heading to work one morning and the jutc bus I was in played this song all they way to my destination and I stood the entire journey, holding back tears. This was the first song in years that really ministered to me and I heard God talking to me through these lyrics. My life was never the same from that morning and within months, I gave my heart to the Lord. this song gave me a conviction I could not resist.
