Come to Me
Jerusalem Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The world is dying more and more
It's suffering from pain
The pressure from the sin is hard
It's keeping it in chains
How can we say that all we did
Was all we could have done
As if the message Jesus had
Was only meant for some
Technology is far ahead
But hold it there - consider
We're missing peace and joy instead
Humanity get's weaker

So come to me, and stay with me
I have something I like you to know

One moment we are greedy
We're grabbing here and there
The other we're accusing God
He is indeed unfair
Yes, God He is almighty
But you have your own free will
So did you choose to turn him down
Or did you say - I will
If God's supposed to be unfair
Then who is fair I wonder
And if His Word is all a lie
Then where is truth I still wonder

So come to me...

Our eyes became so hard
We can no longer cry
But Jesus eyes are filled with tears
For us, they can't run dry
He sacrificed his life for us
This - we can't deny him
A world who never gave it's thanks
For all the love - He showed them
Instead of listening to His words
We said: It has no sense
And whom of us did ever care
By this we caused Him pain

So come to me...

He loves you so, He loves you so
This is the only truth you should know

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Jerusalem's song "Come to Me" speak to the current state of the world, which is full of suffering, pain, and sin. The song addresses the fact that humanity has made great technological advancements, but we still lack peace and joy, and we have become weaker as a species. The message is that despite all the progress we have made, we still need Jesus, and his love and sacrifice for us are the only truths that we should know.

The lyrics also make references to our greed, accusing God of being unfair, and being hard-hearted, and that our actions have caused Jesus pain. The song suggests that we have a choice to make, either to turn our backs on Jesus or to come to him and stay with him. The message is one of hope and the importance of spiritual growth, love, and faith based on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Overall, the lyrics of this song encourage listeners to take a step back and contemplate the deeper meaning of our actions and choices, to find hope in some of the most difficult moments of life, and to surrender ourselves to the love of Jesus.

Such a beautiful song. Love Jerusalem. Rock on brothers.

This is a song that I heard back in the '80s when Bro. Ulf first started touring in the USA w/ Jerusalem. "Rock for God's sake" was on the sticker I purchased, which I still see in mind's eye.

Come To Me is the song that I will still sing and play to this day. The soulful lyrics express the very heart of Jesus to a broken and lost world.

Let all true believers sing this song with pure heart to all we love and desire as forever friends. ❤️

Maranatha our Lord comes! <><

This song grants me heightened compassion when persecuted by family, which cuts deep sometimes, especially when they came from one's own womb. But we continue, we will not stop praying.

Jesus: "I'm waiting for You" - this cry still goes on 'til eternity - it ' s the cry of love, grace, mercy, justice...
