Monet grew up in various towns in New Jersey, shuffled back and forth between divorced parents. It was this exposure to all sides of both culture and race that gave Monet the confidence and knowledge to use her vocal talents. She settled in Trenton, NJ, as a hair stylist for a bit, but she knew music was in her blood and she had to act on her impulses. She took a job as a chef in a Virginia restaurant and by chance, the entire Ruff Ryders roster and staff came into her workplace for dinner in 1999. DMX, their most popular artist on the tour, hit it off well with Monet and eventually the group handed her several phone numbers to contact them. The company encouraged her to keep at it, so she moved back to New Jersey and took three jobs to support her goals. A contract with Dreamworks finally came her way and she recorded her debut album with producer Tyrice Jones in 2001. The final result, titled Love & War, was released in the summer of 2002. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide

Missing you
Jerzee Monet Lyrics

I'm missing your face
'Cause I wish the time could never end
Missin' you, wishin' to
To be kissin' you, you
All the things that we used to do
And I can't be next to you
Have you ever lost a love one?
And it can come so many ways
Murder, giving them up
Or them simply running away
Sometimes the pain stays
Puttin' your mind is a daze
And then your body's walkin' a maze
But you're the only one encaged
Missin' you, wishin' to
To be kissin' you, you
All the things that we used to do
And I can't be next to you
I would give my last thing
If I knew it would make a difference
If I could turn back the hands of time
I would love you more and held you close
Sometimes the pain stays
Puttin' your mind is a daze
Havin' you body walking in a maze
But you're the only on encaged
Missin' you, wishin' to
To be kissin' you, you
All the things that we use to do
And I can't be next to you
Miss you, I wanna hold and kiss you
I'd give my last thing if I knew it'd make a difference
Miss you, I wanna hold and kiss you
I'd give my last thing if it would make a difference
Missin' you, wishin' to
To be kissin' you, you
All the things that we used to do
And I can't be next to you
Missin' you, wishin' to
To be kissin' you, you
All the things that we used to do
And I can't be next to you
Jerzee Monet's song "Missing You" is a heartfelt ode to a lost love. The repetition of "I'm missing your face" in the opening lines underscores the depth of the singer's longing. She wishes that time would never end so that she could continue to be with her loved one. Unfortunately, circumstances have kept them apart. The singer yearns to be "kissin' you" and doing "all the things that we used to do," but now she is unable to be "next to you."
The song conveys a sense of pain and struggle that is universal to those who have lost someone they love. Jerzee Monet acknowledges that there are different ways that love can be lost--either through abandonment, tragedy, or even mutual agreement. Regardless of the cause, the pain that follows can leave a person feeling disoriented ("Puttin' your mind is in a daze") and trapped ("But you're the only one encaged").
