The songs on her 2011 album "Behind A Veil" are a direct result of a personally challenging year; losing her father to a five year battle with ALS, splitting with a lover, and the self-empowering decision to move forward with no management or record label.
Klein explains: “You never really know what the big picture is to a situation - sometimes the meaning is veiled. It can seem really bad, but then later you can look back at the same moment and feel so grateful it went that way; I love that about life. Sometimes things are just really hard and really painful, but also beautiful.”
Klein continues to tour the U.S, U.K. and Europe regularly.
Love is Where You Find It

I wanted love; all I had was pain
I went for a walk to lose my disease
I heard a little voice say "look up at the trees"
I couldn't really tell you what happened
But a slow smile came over me
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
So now I'm driving my car down the long highway
I'm driving my car down the long highway
To take the wheel and let down my hair
And do as I feel and have no cares
Inside and all around me there'll be air
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
I've lost a lot of love
I've lost a lot of love
But this is the kind that I find in the trees
Driving my car down the long highway
Driving my car down the long highway
The rest of this can fall by the wayside
That's gonna be me
That's gonna be me, yeah, yeah
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
I've lost a lot of love
I've lost a lot of love
But this is the kind that I find in the trees
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
I'm not gonna fight it
Love is where you find it
The lyrics of Jess Klein's "Love is Where You Find It" is a testament to the power of love and how it can heal one's pain. The song begins with the singer lamenting how she wanted love, but all she had was pain. She takes a walk to escape her sorrows but hears a voice telling her to look at the trees. The experience seems to bring across a profound realization as a slow smile comes over her, indicating that she has found love where she least expected it.
The shift in outlook becomes more evident in the second verse as the singer hops into her car and drives down a long highway. She decides to let down her hair and have no cares, expressing a newfound sense of freedom and an embrace of living her life in the moment. The experience of love is not just limited to romantic love but a pervasive presence that surrounds her all the time, like the air she breathes.
Overall, "Love is Where You Find It" is a hopeful song that speaks of the infinite potential of unconditional love to heal one's pain and remove the weight of anxieties.
