Jesse & Joy are two young siblings from Mexico City. They began to show a passion for music from a very young age. In 2001 (when they were 18 and 15 years of age), they began writing lyrics and songs with their father. They were later signed under the Warner label on April 18, 2005.
Jesse plays the piano, the guitar, and does the chorus of the songs and Joy plays the guitar and is the lead voice. Their debut was on the Teletón-Mexico 2005 when the Mexican-Argentine duo Sin Bandera presented them to the Mexican audience for the first time. This was followed by James Blunt's showcase tour in Mexico.
"Espacio Sideral" is the first single of their debut album and went #1 on many radio stations. The video of the first single was produced in Argentina and the premiere of the video on MTV was on June 27. The second single is "Ya No Quiero", and the third "Volveré".
Jesse & Joy were nominated in the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America[1] in the category of Promising Artist (Artista Promesa) alongside Argentine singer Axel Fernando, Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Calle 13, the Colombian singer and Grammy award winning, Fonseca and the Mexican rock group División Minúscula.
In 2008, the duo released Estoy Es Lo Que Soy EP which contains all their hits Espacio Sideral, Ya No Quiero, Volveré and Llegaste Tú and a new song called 'Esto Es Lo Que Soy'. This song is featured on mexican telenovela 'Las Tontas No Van Al Cielo' starred by Jaqueline Bracamontes and Jaime Camil.
In May 21, 2008 Jesse & Joy got platinum certification for selling more than 100,000 copies of their debut album Esta Es Mi Vida.
They appeared and performed in an episode of the hit Mexican sitcom Skimo.
They performed live "Llegaste Tú" in the Chilean tv show Estrellas en el Hielo on October 30, 2008.
Que pena me da

Qué pena me da, pero
Qué pena me da
Qué pena me da
El hubiera es complicado
Ahora es cosa del pasado
Nuestras pláticas de almohada
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
Si te duele demasiado
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
Me trataste sin cuidado
Por favor no olvides nada
No me busques por la mala
De este amor solo hay pedazos
Ve a llorar en otros brazos
Uh uuh
Era ideal, casi real
Y yo me enamoraba
Tú tan casual, para engañar
Mirándome a la cara
No se diga más, tú te lo pierdes
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
Tú te lo pierdes
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
Ahora mismo te vas, no vuelvas jamás
Que te ves mejor del otro lado
Bien sabes que no tuviste el valor
De sentirte enamorado
Si buscabas aventuras
Yo también sé hacer locuras
Uh uuh
Era ideal, casi real
Y yo me enamoraba
Tú tan casual, para engañar
Mirándome a la cara
No se diga más, tú te lo pierdes
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
Tú te lo pierdes
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
Tú te lo pierdes
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
(Qué pena me da)
Oooh
Qué pena me da
Qué pena me da
Que penita me da
Uuuh
Qué pena me da
Qué pena me da
Que penita me da
Yeye yey
Qué pena me da
Qué pena me da
Que penita me da
Eh eh eeh
Qué pena me da
Qué pena me da
Que penita me da
Ahora mismo te vas, no vuelvas jamás
Que te ves mejor del otro lado
The song "Que pena me da" by Jesse & Joy is about a past relationship that did not work out, and the singer is reflecting on the missed opportunities and heartaches caused by it. The lyrics are laced with regret and sorrow, as the singer wishes things had turned out differently. The phrase "qué pena me da" (which roughly translates to "what a pity") is repeated throughout the song to emphasize this sentiment.
The first verse talks about how the past is now behind them and how their intimate discussions are now stashed and gone. The chorus is a reflection of the singer's sadness over the fact that their ex-partner took advantage of their relationship while not reciprocating the same care and concern. The second verse highlights how the singer had genuine feelings for their significant other, while the latter was only casually involved in the relationship. The bridge reiterates that the singer does not want the relationship back and that their ex-partner does not deserve their attention, as they did not realize the value of having someone who loved them.
