Seven Nation Army
Jesse Kinch Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm gonna fight 'em off
A seven nation army couldn't hold me back
They're gonna rip it off
Taking their time right behind my back
And I'm talkin' to myself at night
Because I can't forget
Back and forth through my mind
Behind a cigarette

And the message comin' from my eyes says, "Leave it alone."

Don't wanna hear about it
Every single one's got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell
And if I catch it comin' back my way
I'm gonna serve it to you
And that ain't what you want to hear
But that's what I'll do

And the feeling coming from my bones says, "Find a home."

I'm going to Wichita
Far from this opera for evermore
I'm gonna work the straw
Make the sweat drip out of every pore
And I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding
Right before the lord
All the words are gonna bleed from me
And I will think no more

And the stains comin' from my blood tell me, "Go back home."

Overall Meaning

Jesse Kinch's song "Seven Nation Army" is about perseverance and determination in the face of adversity. The opening lyrics "I'm gonna fight 'em off, a seven nation army couldn't hold me back" showcase the singer's unwavering spirit, refusing to be held down by any obstacle or challenge they may face. The following lines "They're gonna rip it off, taking their time right behind my back" paint a picture of the singer being under constant attack, yet always managing to stay one step ahead of their enemies.

The chorus "And the message comin' from my eyes says, 'Leave it alone'" emphasizes the singer's resolve to handle things on their own, without any external assistance. In contrast, the second verse highlights the fact that everyone has a story, but not all of them are worth hearing. The lines "Don't wanna hear about it, every single one's got a story to tell, everyone knows about it, from the Queen of England to the hounds of hell" suggest that the singer is tired of hearing empty words and is seeking genuine action.

The final verse "I'm going to Wichita, far from this opera forevermore, I'm gonna work the straw, make the sweat drip out of every pore, and I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding, right before the lord, all the words are gonna bleed from me, and I will think no more" tells a story of escape and redemption. The singer intends to leave behind their old way of life and start anew, working hard and overcoming their struggles. They are willing to let go of everything that is holding them back, even if it means bleeding and suffering in the process.

This kid is a revelation if there has ever been one on any singing competition show. Why he's not making national headlines and the topic of all the talk shows yet is beyond me. Hopefully just a matter of time. He's a brilliant artist.

Once he wins Rising Star I'm sure he will be on national headlines! :D Can't wait to go to his concert!

It’s because he has no original music. He does covers.

Jesse Kinch won Rising Star and started doing his music thing ! Then doctor's discovered he had a brain tumor. He fought like hell with all the treatments. He had to relearn so many things that come simple to most people. He beat Cancer and just now has come back! He does have original songs. I admire this young man. The producer of Rising Star even set up a stage for Jesse's first comeback. It's on You Tube. You should look him up now in 2023. He is a warrior with a voice like none other!! I think he sounds even better now. Why? He has more appreciation, dedication and strong will and you can hear these when he sings!

Jesse sounds better than the original. Seems to be that way on all of his covers.
