Released by Hollywood Records on September 19, 2006, the album reached number 14 on the Billboard 200. The lead single from the album, Right Where You Want Me, began receiving airplay on July 11, 2006. McCartney released his third album, Departure, on May 20, 2008 in the United States and Canada. Musically, it is a departure from his early works, showing mature themes. The album has reached number 14 on the Billboard 200. The album's lead single Leavin' was released in March 2008, and reached number (10) on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks, giving McCartney his highest-charting single to date. The single has been certified platinum by the RIAA selling over than 3 millions copies ,and over 2 millions downloads on iTunes, thus becoming McCartney's highest-certified single as of early 2009. Right where he broke your heart.
Girl you know, I'd give you everything.
I want to hold your hand,
And say the words he never said.
I'll make you promises you can believe.
Let me be the one,
Sharing the smiles and tears you cry.
Let me be the one,
Loving you when you're weak.
For all of the strength you need,
You can come to me.
When you're down and you feel so lonely
Turn around, you can come to me
When you're down baby, I will be the only
Come to me
You can just be yourself,
'Cause I don't want nobody else.
All of your secrets are safe with me.
For the kind of love you can trust,
For more than just a crush,
Baby, won't you just come to me?
Let me be the one,
Telling you it's alright
Sharing the smiles and tears you cry.
Let me be the one,
Loving you when you're weak.
For all of the strength you need,
You can come to me.
When I got you in my arms
Say it's where you want to be (where you want to be, yeah)
'Cause girl I'm down on my knees
Promising my heart oh, my heart
Let me be the one,
Telling you it's alright
Sharing the smiles and tears you cry.
Let me be the one,
Loving you when you're weak.
For all of the strength you need,
You can come to me.
Let me be the one,
Telling you it's alright
Sharing the smiles and tears you cry.
Let me be the one,
Loving you when you're weak.
For all of the strength you need,
You can come to me.
Jesse McCartney's song "Come To Me" is a heartfelt ballad that speaks to the desire to provide comfort and security to someone who has been hurt in a past relationship. In the first verse, he sings "Under the silver stars, right where he broke your heart. Girl you know, I'd give you everything. I want to hold your hand, and say the words he never said. I'll make you promises you can believe." McCartney is expressing a willingness to be there for someone in a vulnerable state, to offer reassurance and support as they heal from past pain.
Throughout the song, McCartney reiterates this message, promising to be a constant source of love and strength. He sings "When you're down and you feel so lonely, turn around, you can come to me. When you're down baby, I will be the only, come to me." He wants to be the one that this person can rely on, who will love them unconditionally even when they are struggling.
At the heart of "Come To Me" is a message of empathy and compassion. McCartney is acknowledging the pain of someone who has been hurt and offering a safe space for them to find comfort and healing. It's a beautiful sentiment that is captured in the song's melody and lyrics.
