Please Come Home For Christmas
Jesse McCartney Lyrics

The glad, glad news
Oh, what a Christmas
To have the blues
My baby's gone
I have no friends
To wish me greetings
Once again
Choirs will be singing
"silent night"
Christmas carols
By candlelight
Please come home for Christmas
Baby please come home for Christmas
If not for Christmas
By new year's night
Friends and relations
Send salutations
Sure as the stars shine above
It's Christmas yea
It's Christmas
The time of year
To be, with the one you love
Then won't you tell me
You'll never more roam
Christmas and new year's
Will find you home
There'll be no more sorrow
No grief no pain
Then I'll be happy, happy
Once again
There'll be no more sorrow
No grief and pain
Then I'll be happy
Christmas
Once again
The lyrics of Jesse McCartney’s “Please Come Home for Christmas” are focused on the singer’s deep longing for someone to be with during the holiday season. The bells ringing and Christmas music being played only remind him of the absence of his significant other, leaving him lonely despite the joyous atmosphere. The singer is expressing a deep pain, a sense of despair that only grows during the festive season as he has no one to share it with. He longs for his loved one to return, hoping that by the end of this holiday season, his empty home will eventually become an emotional haven again. The song also highlights the sense of community during Christmas, which only adds to his misery as he feels detached from everything he knows.
The singer speaks of how he does not have anyone to wish him greetings, further emphasizing his lack of companionship. The choice of words used, “My baby’s gone,” is a poignant reminder of the kind of love he has lost. The chorus plea “Please come home” is repeated, followed by the hope that they will return by New Year's night if not for Christmas. The use of repetition and the added emphasis on certain words creates a sense of desperation that connects with the people who have been in the singer’s position.
