Missing
Jessy Lyrics

I step off the train
I´m walkin´ down your street again
And pass your door
But you don´t live there anymore
It´s years since you´ve been there
And now you´ve disappeared somewhere
Like outer space
You´ve found some better place
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
Could you be dead?
You always were two steps ahead
Of ev´ryone
We´d walk behind while you would run
I look up at your house
And I can almost hear you shout
down to me
Where I always used to be
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
Back on the train
I ask why did I come again

I´ve been hangin´ round your old address
And the years have proved
To offer nothin´ since you moved
You´re long gone
But I can´t move on
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
I step off the train
I´m walkin´ down your street again
Pass your door
I guess you don´t live there anymore
It´s years since you´ve been there
And now you´ve disappeared somewhere
Like outer space
You´ve found some better place
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you yeahh
Like the deserts miss the rain

And I miss you
Like the deserts miss the rain

Overall Meaning

"Missing" by British pop singer Jessy is about the pain of longing for someone who's no longer around. The song describes the singer's journey walking down the street of someone they miss, who doesn't live there anymore. They contemplate whether or not the person has passed away, as they were always steps ahead of everyone else. The singer stands outside the house and remembers how the person used to shout down to them when they were there. This memory serves only to accentuate their sense of loss. Despite the fact that the memory is years old and their friend has moved on, the singer can't bring themselves to do the same. They still miss the person, like how deserts miss rain.
