But it doesn't mean a thing, no
Show me, show me how to do that
You say I do it all wrong
You don't even talk to me
You don't even talk to me
And every time I have to prove it
For the love I never see
Yeah, I say it to your face
But it doesn't mean a thing, no
Go all night and the whole day long
Cut me up, but it feels so strong
'Cause you can't see me
Can't see me
Oh baby, baby, hold me up and put me on
What you do doesn't matter much
'Cause you can't see me
Yeah I say it to your face, but it doesn't mean a thing, no
If I'm who you think you're fooling
You'll cower, you'll come up
Do what I do all for free
Yes I do, yes I do
I wonder how you got to choose it
You say you're 'bout that tall
If I'll ever see
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I say it, say it, say it, but it doesn't mean a thing, no
Can't see me, can't see me
Can't see me
Can't see me, can't see me
Can't see me
Go all night and all day long
Cut me up and feels so strong
But you can't see me
You can't see me
Oh, hold me up and put me on
What you do doesn't matter much
'Cause you can't see me
You can't see me (yeah, I say it to your face
But it doesn't mean a thing, no) no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no, ah
The lyrics to Jessy Lanza's song VV Violence express the songwriter's frustrations about the lack of communication and validation in a relationship. Lanza sings about saying something to her partner's face, but feeling like it doesn't mean anything because they don't engage with her emotionally. She also mentions working hard all day for a love she never sees, highlighting a sense of isolation and worthlessness in the relationship. The chorus contains the repeating line "but you can't see me," suggesting that Lanza's partner is unable to acknowledge or understand her perspective.
The verses contain references to physical sensation, with lines like "cut me up, but it feels so strong" and "hold me up and put me on." These could be interpreted as either sexual or violent in nature, adding an undercurrent of tension to the song. Overall, VV Violence conveys a sense of frustration and powerlessness in a relationship where communication and emotional connection are lacking.
