The Right Decision
Jesus Jones Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Well they say ignorance is bliss
Unless something is amiss
How about that?
And the problem with success
Is you become what you detest
How about that?
How about that?
And who do you trust
Well it may as well be you
Cause it seems
that no one else has got a clue
Get it wrong get it right
You can try as hard as you like
But there us no such thing
in the world as the right decision
It us okay to get a smile
Just as long as it us not dumb
How about that?
And two wrongs donut make a right
But there us a conflict they just might
How about that?
How about that?
Suspend your trust
Reserve our belief
And did all I could do
In the hope that I might pick up any clue
Get it wrong get it right
You can try it as hard as you might
But there us no such thing
in the world as the right decision
It us our soul that we protect [?]
Because we may just break our neck
How about that?
And for every question why
There us a answer on the sly
If you will look in the eye . . . [?]
Get it wrong get it right
You can try as hard as you like
But there us no such thing
in the world as the right decision
Get it wrong get it right
You can try as hard as you like
But there us no such thing
in the world as the right decision
In "The Right Decision" by Jesus Jones, the lyrics speak to the complexity of decision-making and the impossibility of knowing the "right" choice in any given situation. Compromise and confusion are presented as factors that can tear away at one's ability to make decisions with certainty. The opening lines suggest that sometimes it's better to be ignorant of a problem, however, this is not always possible when something is amiss, and the subsequent lyrics provide a glimpse into the difficulty of making decisions in the face of conflicting information. The song suggests that success can be a double-edged sword, in that it can also lead to becoming the thing you detest.
The chorus repeatedly states that there is no such thing as the right decision, regardless of how hard one may try. The idea is that there are always risks involved in making decisions, and it's impossible to know the outcome of each choice. The section about protecting one's soul speaks to the importance of being true to oneself, even if it means taking a risk and potentially making the wrong decision. The song seems to encourage listeners to embrace the uncertainty of decision-making, acknowledging that while we may not always know what the right choice is, it's still worth trying.
Overall, "The Right Decision" captures the frustration and anxiety that can accompany decision-making, while also recognizing the importance of taking risks and being true to oneself. It's an insightful and complex exploration of a universal human experience.

"Perverse" is an album missunderstood by most people. It was ahead of its time back in 1993, they take the best of Pop Rock and Synth Pop with the attitude and sound of Nine Inch Nails, EMF, and even Depeche Mode.

To this very day I cannot find a single copy of this album in any record store I've been to. And I ALWAYS look on the distant chance I'll find at least a used copy. Since freakin' 1993.
