Jet also received seven ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) nominations, six of which were awarded to the band. Is it ok if I don't come around
The light is fading
And the sun has gone down
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Where's the day that never ended
Tell me when its time to open up my eyes
Light the morning with the sun on the rise
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
For all that you do
For all that you had
For all that you said
Would you take it all back?
When all that you see
Is much more than you have
I will bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
You won't know me 'till you need me
But I won't let you down
So open up your eyes
The day is done
The sun has set in the sky
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
For all that you do
For all that you had
For all that you said
Would you take it all back?
When all that you see
Is much more than you have
I will bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Just because your eyes are open
Doesn't mean you can see
So where do we go?
Well, that's between you and me
The lyrics of Jet’s song Bring It On Back appear to be about someone who is reflecting on their life and wondering if they have made any mistakes. The first two lines suggest that the person is maybe failing or struggling in some way, or perhaps feeling that they are not living up to certain expectations. They then go on to talk about the fading light and the setting sun, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for their own decline or perhaps even death.
However, the song then becomes more optimistic in tone, with the repeated refrain of “Bring it on back”. This could mean bringing back lost opportunities, lost love, or even just bringing back the better parts of oneself. The second verse seems to be about wanting to re-experience the joys of childhood, or at least wanting to regain some sort of innocent perspective on life. There is a sense of wishing to start again, perhaps from a time before any mistakes were made or any damage was done.
The bridge of the song then changes tack, with the singer seemingly addressing someone else. The line “You won’t know me ‘till you need me” suggests that the two parties are not particularly close, but the singer is still willing to help or support them when they do need it. The final lines of the song – “Just because your eyes are open / Doesn’t mean you can see / So where do we go? / Well, that’s between you and me” – are fairly cryptic but could be interpreted as a comment on the difficulty of truly understanding oneself or anyone else.
Overall, the song seems to combine themes of regret, hope, and the desire to start anew. It encourages listeners to embrace the positive and let go of the negative, while acknowledging the difficulties of achieving such a goal.
