Eleanor
Jet Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If you close your eyes
You will see yourself
All this time I spent running away
Was a waste of time

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
Love's in your hands I swear
Love's in your hands

When that train rolls by
I will save your life

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
Loves in your hands I swear
Loves in your hands I swear

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
Loves in your hands I swear
My loves in your hands

There's no reason to feel a love miss given
No reason to be holding you
No reason to be holding you, you
No reason to be holding

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor
My Loves in your hands I swear
My Loves in your hands I swear

Stay with me Eleanor
Stay with me Eleanor

My loves in your hands I swear
My Loves in your hands I swear.

Overall Meaning

The song "Eleanor" is a plea for a woman named Eleanor to stay with the singer. The opening lines, "If you close your eyes, you will see yourself," suggest that Eleanor has been struggling with her identity or sense of self-worth. The lyrics continue to suggest that the singer has been running away from Eleanor, but now realizes that this was a waste of time. He wants Eleanor to stay with him, and he swears that love is in her hands. When a train rolls by, the singer promises to save Eleanor's life.

The repeated refrain of "stay with me Eleanor" highlights the singer's desperation for her companionship and love. He insists that there is no reason for her to feel a lack of love, which could be interpreted as a reference to the singer's own past behavior. The closing lines of the song repeat the promise that "love's in your hands," emphasizing Eleanor's agency in the relationship.

Overall, "Eleanor" is a straightforward love song that emphasizes the singer's desire for connection and emotional intimacy. By urging Eleanor to stay with him and proclaiming his love, the singer hopes to create a sense of security and stability in the relationship.

After watching your videos I just have to take a break from the internet because I am just so disgusted... Thank you so much for bringing awareness to this situation, and for calling the mother out. Situations like this make me so scared, especially realizing that people more than likely recognize Wren in public. This is EXTREMELY dangerous and it's good for as maybe people to know about this as possible. Also, this is great for future parents to see and be aware of so they can know what NOT to do when their child comes into the world. I swear my child will never be allowed on tik tok until she's at least 16 or 17, and you better believe I would show her your videos so she realizes that not everything is innocent and fun... As of writing this I am only 17, and I don't even use tik tok because of multiple reasons, the main one being creeps like this existing in the world. I don't want to support tik tok because of how they very obviously are allowing terrible things to happen on their platform. Yes, tik tok can be an inspiring place and a place for artists and other creators to get attention for their work. However, that's only one side of the story. Yes, every platform is in some way corrupt, and in some way has a dark side, but at least Instagram will actually take down certain things, and they actually follow up when someone submits a report on an account or person. I myself have gotten warnings just because I said a curse word in a comment. They moderate things not perfectly, but definitely much better than tik tok does. Tik tok is a disgusting place, and unfortunately, it was one of the most downloaded apps in 2020 (I believe). It was downloaded more times than GOOGLE itself. Just think about that. We know how prominent google is in our world's culture, especially American culture... Now, the same thing is happening with tik tok. It's taking over the world, and it's in the faces of children everywhere. This just makes me want to stay home forever, and never move out, just so I can protect my sisters from weirdos online! But, alas... That is unfortunately part of growing up as a girl/woman/child these days. Every child, teen, and adult in gen z has more than likely had a situation regarding creeps online, and this is not ok, and should not be normalized, because normalizing this type of thing is one of the most dangerous things we can do as a society. This culture we're adapting is very concerning, especially when the livelihoods of children are involved.

*About to get very political, so just a warning*

And with abortion being banned in many states in the US, this makes the exploitation of children (especially young girls) all the more dangerous and concerning! There are 10 y/os who've already experienced their first pregnancy and abortion because of disgusting people... This should NEVER happen! A parent should never have to take their little girl to have an abortion because a person hurt her this way... It is so tragic, and traumatic for the child in question! I know abortion is very controversial, but when it comes to little girls being in danger this way, the options should be open, because this does happen, and it happens a lot more than you'd believe.
A child shouldn't have a child. You'd never trust a 10 y/o to watch your baby alone and unsupervised, would you? Childhood should be about having fun and living life to the fullest. Getting into trouble, learning lessons, being goofy, going to school, and making friends. It should never be about getting an abortion, being abused, and becoming a mother, or possibly dying in childbirth. I know this is reality and it happens, but we should do everything as a society to prevent such terrible things! Some people will say "just adopt the baby out", but just remember that when a mother is pregnant, she has (usually) an instant love and connection to the child due to hormones and chemical reactions that occur in her brain during pregnancy and childbirth.
It is extremely traumatic for someone to have to give up their baby, even after an abusive situation. A little girl can barely understand how babies are made. When I was 10, I definitely didn't know this! If I'd gotten pregnant, I'd be so confused. Not only that, but a young child being pregnant is very dangerous for her, and could lead to death very easily.

I really hope that Wren will be safe and that her mother will get her sh*t together, wake up, and open her eyes wide so she can really see the danger here.

My experience with predators: skip to last paragraph for my actual thoughts
I’m 16, and when I was 14 I was bullied, for being a lesbian, for being what my psychologist believes is autistic and overall for not being what these people wanted me to be.
I felt really alone, nobody was listening to me except for my parents, even then they felt uncomfortable talking about it, especially as I had only just began to start recovering from anorexia. They didn’t like talking about the difficult stuff.
So I went online, purposely seeking out people who were lonely like me as I’m also a pretty good listener, they’d be there for me and I’d be there for them.
I have spoken to many older people, mainly men 20-40 and the comments I got were disturbing. Long paragraphs about how they wanted to sleep with me, what they’d do if they found me and what they thought I’d be like in bed.
There is a lot more to it but that is a brief summary. I know now why I Iet these these people hurt me and that I was a victim of grooming.
I’m 16 and I still can’t wear tight clothes, even though I’d love to.
My girlfriend knows and has helped me a lot but some of my friends have made it out like I’m lucky for it or whatever

That kind of attention is irreversible and for a 3 year old girl...I can’t imagine how she’ll feel when she’s older. Although some mothers may feel that they shouldn’t have to take their child off social media and that it’s not fair (which makes sense as it’s the predators making it weird), your child’s safety should come first. At the very very least, she should consider how her video style is catering to a creepy audience and stop blaming those trying to spread awareness by calling it fake.

That’s my thoughts, this was more a rant than a cohesive judgement

i appreciate you covering this and blurring her out. it's so gross when people make videos talking about exploiting kids while also exploiting the kid.

@Anastasia Lecter sometimes even if you don't put ads in a video, youtube will automatically put ads in it or monetize it

Terry Filkohazi

@The Supreme Remember, the mother claimed that she contacted the FBI and nothing was found on the dark web or wherever. Doubtful that authorities can do much, since it's mostly "just words" No action taken, at least not yet.

@Choomchoomaru I see it happen on a lot videos people respond without reading and understanding.
