Leave it where we found it, oh baby please be gone
Dreams are easy oh but baby understand
It's so very hard for you to leave your everlovin' man
Bring you everything, oh everything man should be oh baby
My word is easy but I'll leave you in your misery
My world is ended but baby understand
I don't need your lovin' I don't want your lovin'
I won't have your lovin' Oh baby no more
Bring it all back baby everything we did was wrong
Leave it where we found it, oh baby please be gone
Dreams are easy oh but baby understand
It's so very hard for you to leave your everlovin' man
Bring you everything, oh everything man should be oh baby
Words are easy but I'll leave you in your misery
It's so very hard for you to leave your everlovin' man
I don't need your lovin' I don't want your lovin'
I don't have your lovin' Oh baby no more
Oh baby no more Oh baby no more Oh, I don't need your lovin'
"Everlovin' Man" by Jet is a song that speaks about breaking free from a relationship that has gone wrong. The opening lines are honest and brutal, "Bring it all back baby everything we did was wrong, Leave it where we found it, oh baby please be gone." The singer realizes that everything they did with their partner was wrong, and they want to move on. However, the partner is finding it difficult to accept the breakup, and the singer is struggling to convince them to move on.
The chorus emphasizes the singer's need to let go of the relationship. They do not want the partner's love anymore and is asking them to move on. The lyrics hint at the fact that the singer may have been in a toxic or abusive relationship, where the partner has become overly dependent on them. However, the singer acknowledges that breaking free of the relationship is hard. In the line, "It's so very hard for you to leave your everlovin' man" the singer recognizes the partner's need for a constant presence in their life, but they cannot fulfill that anymore.
The song builds on this theme, reminding the partner that they are enough and that they need not stay in a relationship that is failing. By the end of the song, the singer is firm in their stand, "Oh baby no more, Oh baby no more, Oh, I don't need your lovin'"

Thanks to Jet for paying tribute to The Loved Ones and Gerry Humpries with this cover of a great Aussie song. I hope contemporary Jet fans get it like we baby- boomers went for The Loved Ones' original.
