He says why you feeling down
You gotta get off your love life
And find the shoe that fits you
Spoke to my dad
He said is it me that makes you mad
You gotta put your head down
You were right
And there is no time
To drag out the photographs
And make it bright
So I'm doing fine
As long as it's open to make
Well I'll make it now
Spoke to
myself
I said you're not a kid anymore
You gotta open your eyes
And see the life that's in front of you
These lyrics are from the song You Were Right by the Australian rock band Jet. The song talks about the singer's struggle with life and love, and how he finds solace in the advice given by his friend, dad, and ultimately himself. The singer seems to be in a state of confusion, and is seeking guidance from his loved ones to find his way forward. His friend advises him to move on from his love life, and find a shoe that fits him, which suggests that the singer needs to find something that complements his personality and values. His dad advises him to bury his worry and focus on his day job, indicating that he needs to find comfort in his work life to overcome his emotional turmoil. Finally, the singer advises himself to grow up and face life with open eyes, and find happiness in what life has to offer.
