Beautiful dreamer
Live for the dream, follow the dream
Beautiful dreamer
Soul singer on the avenue hummin' her little tune
Wishin' one day to be everything she dreams
Her goals so far so unattainable, she thinks
Live for the dream, follow the dream
Beautiful dreamer
Live for the dream, follow the dream
Beautiful dreamer
Home boy on the avenue wants love
But doesn't have a clue that there's no clue to it
Just love, just love
Open up your heart and grab it, believe that you can have it
Take it, it's yours, it's yours
Live for the dream, follow the dream
Beautiful dreamer
Live for the dream, follow the dream
Beautiful dreamer
Oh, I know sometimes that it gets hard
Running up that road, surviving, beating the odds
But you don't have to worry, no fear, no doubt
Hold on to the dream
Believe, believe, believe, believe
Beautiful dreamer
Live for the dream, follow the dream
Beautiful dreamer
Dream, dream, dream
In Jill Scott's song "Dreamin'", the lyrics encapsulate themes about hope, determination, and the pursuit of one's dreams. The verses focus on two different individuals, a soul singer and a man seeking love, who are both striving for something seemingly out of reach. The chorus encourages them to hold onto their dreams, to believe that they can achieve their goals, and to continue pushing forward.
The song's lyrics contain inspiring words that suggest that anything is achievable if one desires it with passion and works hard for it. The opening lyrics "Live for the dream, follow the dream" highlights that the dream is not just about having a vision of something but actually living it, pursuing it, and achieving it. The repetition of "Beautiful Dreamer" in the chorus is also significant since it establishes the dreamer as a beautiful and worthy figure.
The second verse mentions a boy who wants love but doesn't know-how. He needs to open up his heart and believe that love is achievable. By holding onto hope and working hard, the person in the song can eventually overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams. The bridge talks about how it may be difficult to achieve those goals, but we must continue to believe in ourselves and never lose faith.
