It's hard to keep focused
One minute staring at the moon
Next into your eyes
It's no surprise
Mm that my knees weaken
At the lovely words you're speakin'
Oh, la la la la la la
It takes more than diamonds to woo me
La la la la la la
It takes more than money to groove me
Oh, oh
Feeling the way I do
It's hard to keep focused
One minute starin' at the moon
Next into your eyes
And it's no surprise
That my knees get weaken
From the lovely words you're speakin'
La la la la
It takes more than diamonds to woo me
La la la la la la
It takes more than money to move me
La la la la la la
It takes more than, oh, material things
La la la la
It takes more than diamonds to move me
La la la la la la
It takes more than money to groove me
La la la la
It takes more than cars to get me where I need to go
Don't stop the flow
It takes more than diamonds to move me
It takes more, la la la, than money, baby
It takes more
It takes more than material things
It takes more, it takes more
La la la la
It takes more than diamonds to move me
La la la la
It takes more than money to woo me
La la la la la la
It takes more than material things to get me goin' baby
Jill Scottβs Spring Summer Feeling is a sultry R&B jam that speaks to the singer's need for more than material possessions. The opening lines, βFeelin' the way I do, it's hard to keep focused. One minute starin' at the moon, next into your eyesβ perfectly capture the songβs sensual and dreamy atmosphere. Scottβs lyrics suggest that she is swept away by the moment and that material possessions hold little, if any, weight in matters of the heart.
The repeated chorus βLa la la la la la, it takes more than diamonds to move meβ suggests that Scott needs a deeper connection than physical appearances or monetary wealth in a potential partner. The lyrics βIt takes more than cars to get me where I need to goβ reinforce this idea, implying that a meaningful relationship should fulfill an emotional need beyond material possessions.
Overall, Spring Summer Feeling is a beautiful ode to romance that emphasizes the importance of vulnerable emotional connections over the superficial appeal of material possessions, making it an inspiring and romantic R&B hit.
