What it means to be heard?
Did you ever feel like a jerk?
Did you ever give up
On you pride
Just to have him by your side?
Well, if you don't know
What I'm talking about
You don't nothing
You don't know
You don't know nothing
About love
When the night time comes
Do your tears fall like rain
And in the morning, do they fall all over again
Tell me do you get down
On your knees and pray
That should never, never never go away
Well if you don't know
What I am talking about
You don't know nothing
You don't know nothing
You don't know nothing, nothing
About love
Oh love, hmm
Don't try to tell me
That I am out of my mind
'Cause anywhere the man goes
I'll be right behind
You don't know nothing
You don't know nothing, you don't know nothing
You don't know, you don't know
You don't know
You don't know nothing
You don't know nothing
Boy you don't know
You don't know nothing
You don't know
You don't know
Oh you don't know
You don't know, you don't know nothing
About love
You don't know nothing
About love
About love
About love
You don't know, oh oh, oh oh
You don't know nothing
About love
The song "You Don't Know" by Jill Scott explores the frustrations and struggles of love. The lyrics demonstrate that the singer is going through an emotional entanglement with her lover, and is frustrated that he doesn't understand the depths of her feelings. She questions if he really knows what it means to be truly heard, and if he has ever felt like a jerk in a relationship. She admits that she has given up her pride just to please her lover, and she wonders if he has ever done the same for her.
The second verse of the song continues to explore the complicated emotions that come with love. The singer asks if her lover cries at night, and wonders if he prays that their love should never go away. She is frustrated by the fact that he might not understand the depth of her feelings, and she asserts that she will continue to follow him, no matter where he goes.
Overall, the song showcases the complexities of romantic relationships, and the desire for deeper understanding and connection between lovers.
