But, I just can't stand the pain
Girl, I'm leaving you tomorrow
Seems to me girl
You know I've done all I can
You see I begged, stole, and I borrowed! (yeah)
Ooh that's why I'm easy
That's why I'm easy
I'm easy like Sunday morning!
Why in the world would anybody put chains on me?
I've paid my dues to make it
Everybody wants me to be
What they want me to be
I'm not happy when I try to fake it! no!
Ooh that's why I'm easy
I'm easy like Sunday morning
That's why I'm easy
I'm easy like Sunday morning!
I wanna be high, so high
I wanna be free to know
The things I do are right
I wanna be free
Just me! Whoa, oh! Babe!
That's why I'm easy
I'm easy like Sunday morning, yeah
That's why I'm easy
I'm easy like Sunday morning, whoa
'Cause I'm easy
Easy like Sunday morning, yeah
'Cause I'm easy
Easy like Sunday morning
This beautifully melodic song, "Easy," by Lionel Richie, is a smooth, sentimental ballad about a man who's finally fed up with the mistreatment he's receiving in his relationship with his girl. In the lyrics, he admits that he's been through a lot to help save the relationship, but now, it's time for him to move on. The singer's explanation that he feels as "easy as Sunday morning" suggests that after all of the struggles, he feels so carefree and unstressed that it's as though he's strolling through life on an easy Sunday morning.
In the second verse, Lionel Richie remarks that he's worked hard and has been successful, but everyone expects him to conform to their expectations. However, he's finding it difficult to continue living a lie, and wants to be his own person. The lyrics give the impression that he wants to break free and release the shackles that have been placed on him, already having the scars, putting in the work, and achieving success, but nobody seems to let him be himself.
The song's happy melody and serene atmosphere contrast beautifully with its lyrics. This ballad is both optimistic and a little melancholy, and it speaks to the heart of anyone who's ever felt trapped or constrained. The chorus of this song is so catchy and warm that it will stay with you for a long time; it's the perfect anthem for anyone who wants to take things easy and just live for the moment.

Indeed.
Mr. Stuart oncst told someone interviewing him how much of an honor it was to perform with "The Great & Good" of Country Music. Mr. Stuart is a class act for all of his grandstanding on stage when it is appropriate.

We had the pleasure of seeing Jim at the Opry a few years ago and were Impressed with his solo performance. He did something that was for us somewhat unusual. He sat down at the edge of the stage and talked to us as though he was making a personal connection to his audience. He spoke of how he had reconnected with and I believe remarried his former wife. It was almost more like a confession than a revelation. I know it made an impression on me and I think the rest of the folks present also. RIP Jim! We will miss your wonderful tenor voice.
