Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Brickman enrolled in the Cleveland Institute of Music taking courses in composition and performance, while taking business classes at Case Western Reserve University. His music career started when he was nineteen, when Jim Henson hired him to write tunes for Sesame Street. He was also hired to write commercial jingles while in college.
Brickman writes a wide variety of music. Besides his piano compositions and love songs, he has also created arrangements of other songs. Several of his albums feature arrangements of children's music; he has produced two Christmas-themed albums The Gift (1997) and Peace (2003); and his 2005 album Grace concentrates on arrangements of well-known Christian music.
Jim Brickman has also starred in the now-on-DVD PBS specials "My Romance: An Evening with Jim Brickman", "Love Songs & Lullabies" and "The Disney Songbook." In 2006, he sponsored his first Jim Brickman Valentine's Day Cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines which has become an annual event.

From the moment I looked into your eyes
There was something about you
I knew I knew
That you were once in a life time
A treasure near impossible to find
And I know how lucky I am to have you
The beauty of the setting sun that ends a perfect day
And when it comes to shooting stars, I've seen a few
But I've never seen anything, as beautiful as you
Holding you in my arms
No one else has fit so perfectly
I could dance forever with you, with you
And at the stroke of midnight
Please forgive me if I can't let go
Cause I never dreamed I'd find a Cinderella of my own
Cause I've seen the rainbows that can take your breath away
The beauty of the setting sun that ends a perfect day
And when it comes to shooting stars, I've seen a few
But I've never seen anything, as beautiful as you
Cause I've seen the rainbows that can take your breath away
The beauty of the setting sun that ends a perfect day
And when it comes to shooting stars, I've seen a few
But I've never seen anything
Oh oh, oh no, I've never seen anything, as beautiful as you
From the moment I saw you,
From the moment I looked into your eyes
The song "Beautiful" by Jim Brickman expresses the emotions of being struck by love at first sight. The singer describes the moment he saw his love interest and could sense that she was a treasure, an impossible to find one. He then expresses his gratitude for having the opportunity to have her in his life. The singer then goes on to compare his love interest's beauty with natural wonders, rainbows that take one's breath away and a beautiful setting sun, making it evident how she stands out from any other beauty he has witnessed. He then talks about how complementary they are to each other, how they fit so perfectly and how he could dance with her forever. He concludes the song by expressing how lucky he is to have found his own Cinderella.
It is not uncommon for people to use natural elements such as rainbows and sunsets to express their admiration for their loved ones. Brickman does this effectively by using picturesque language to describe his emotions. The lyrics of the song also suggest that the relationship is a happy and positive one, and it is clear that the singer is completely smitten by the object of his affection. The entire song is an ode to the beauty of love.

And I know how lucky I am to have you

The beauty of the setting sun that ends a perfect day

And when it comes to shooting stars, I've seen a few
I have observed a few shooting stars, and they were dazzling,
But I've never seen anything, as beautiful as you
You surpass all other beautiful things I have seen and experienced,
Holding you in my arms
Embracing you in my arms,
No one else has fit so perfectly
No one else has matched so flawlessly,
I could dance forever with you, with you
I could waltz endlessly with you, with you,
And at the stroke of midnight
And when the clock strikes twelve,
Please forgive me if I can't let go
Kindly pardon me for my inability to let go,
Cause I never dreamed I'd find a Cinderella of my own
As I never expected to find my own fairytale princess,
Oh oh, oh no, I've never seen anything, as beautiful as you
I have never encountered anything as enchanting and stunning as you,
