For All We Know
Jim Brickman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We may never meet again
Before you go
Make this moment sweet again
We won't say goodnight
Until the last minute
I'll hold out my hand
For all we know
This may only be a dream
We come and we go
Like the ripples of a stream
So love me, love me tonight
tomorrow was made for some
tomorrow may never come
for all we know
The song "For All We Know" by Jim Brickman is a beautiful ballad that speaks to the uncertainty of the future and the importance of living in the moment. The song is primarily about how we never know what the future will hold and that there may come a time when we may never see someone again. The title phrase "For All We Know" is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the idea that we cannot predict what will happen in the future. The lyrics also suggest that we should not take each other for granted and that we should make the most of the time we have together.
The second verse of the song continues with the theme of uncertainty and how life can be fleeting. It describes how we all come and go in the world like the ripples of a stream, and that life is constantly changing. The chorus then returns with a call to action to live in the moment and to love each other while we have the chance. The final line of the song, "for all we know," drives home the point that we should not take the people we love or the time we have with them for granted, as we never know what the future will hold.
