Hear Me
Jim Brickman Lyrics

Don't let these tears I cry be in vain.
Take these tears, keep them up in heaven.
Water my life with tears like rain
Hear me, hear my words unspoken, Restore my faith in hoping
Hear me, I am feeling broken I am broken open.
Take this life, turn it into something, I'm afraid it's just wasting time
Turn this life the sun has ripened, grow it slowly on the vine.
Hear me, hear my words unspoken, Restore my faith in hoping
Hear me, I am feeling broken I am broken open.
Turn my tears into wine, turn these tears into wine.
All there's left of me are traces.
Make me stronger in my broken places
Hear me, hear my words unspoken, Restore my faith in hoping
Hear me, I am feeling broken I am broken open.
Turn these tears into wine, turn my tears into wine
Hear me...
The lyrics of Jim Brickman's song "Hear Me" tackle the theme of crying and the hope for emotional renewal. The song starts with a plea to collect the tears that the singer cries and to preserve them to be redeemed in the future. He implores his listeners to listen to his unspoken words, to restore his faith in hope, and to mend his “broken” self. He wishes to have his life turned into something meaningful as he feels it's just a waste of time. The singer hopes to grow slowly on the vine and to turn his tears into wine, which suggests a transformation of negative emotions into something positive and nourishing.
The song enhances the message with simple yet powerful imagery. The idea of collecting tears in a bottle and preserving them in heaven is an emotive depiction of the need to keep records of emotions as evidence of suffering and redemption. The metaphor of turning tears into wine is a profound symbol of transformation, turning something bitter and sour into something tasty and nourishing.
Overall, "Hear Me" is a poignant and thought-provoking song about the fragility of the human spirit and the need for emotional resilience. It is a call to listen and understand the unvoiced cries of those who feel broken and lost.
