Jim Sturgess (born May 16, 1981) is an English actor and singer-songwriter.… Read Full Bio ↴Jim Sturgess (born May 16, 1981) is an English actor and singer-songwriter. His breakthrough film role was in the 2007 musical Across the Universe, in which he played and sung the role of Jude.

He has remained active as a musician throughout his time being known as an actor, maintaining a selection of songs on his MySpace page, some of which were performed for movies and with others credited to previous bands of his such as Saint Faith and Dilated Spies. In addition to performing a number of covers of The Beatles' songs as Jude in Across the Universe, he has also contributed songs to soundtracks for other films of his, including 21 (2008) and Heartless (2009).

As of October 2011, he is known to be currently working on a project called Tragic Toys with his girlfriend Mickey O'Brien (who is also known as Ladyburden and tours as a keyboardist with La Roux.)

the camera angles and colors and EVERYTHING about this movie is genius. You can tell so much planning went into it, and they carried each scene out perfectly with all the right elements. Any film/production student would ADORE this movie. It's genuinely perfection.

I remember watching this movie, and I'll admit some of the trippy scenes are a bit hard to watch but this scene really caught my attention with masterfulness. The cinematography is just beautiful and appealing, the choreography is really unique, and of course the fact that it's the same guy playing all those singers is just brilliant. I loved this song so much, but I may like this cover even more.

this is probably one of my favorite scenes from this movie. (hard to say when the whole movie is so magnificent.) I was watching the making of the movie, and the choreograpy in this scene is so amazing, especially concidering that all of it was so intentional but looked so accidental. and, this is one of the best covers of come together I've ever heard. gah, this is fantastic.

I agree, and it's sad it was largely overlooked by so many people. I taught all the songs to my class and then we watched the movie... they loved it and asked to borrow it! now they sing along to the songs. It was great to share Beatles with a new generation.

I loved the movie and have seen it several times. I notice something different in it every time. I was a teen when all this shit was going on so I can related to a lot of symbolism. I get the references to Hendrix (although he played left handed) and Joplin. I know a lot won't agree, but, the movie brought back some memories that were good and some that I'd rather forget. The Vietnam War ended the year I graduated. The 60's were turbulent and we are headed right back there.

Once I watched "Across The Universe," for just the Very First time, It was Completely Over between The Beatles & I. For I, was Over the Moon for this Soundtrack! That was almost 20 years ago now, and I still have not turned back, all the while though, I still listen to the Cover Versions on the Regular.. One of My Always Go-to's for Life 🖤🥳👍🥲🍓🥰🎉🤍
