That is true. Hendrix said on several occasions that he didn't consider himself to be a very good singer. I think, however that his vocal style was just about perfect for his music. R.I.P. Jimi. Gone, but will NEVER be forgotten.

This is a cut from the Rainbow Bridge LP - 1970; funky as hell. I was in love with the guitar and I remember it well. Excellent writer. All of Jimi's albums were different and interesting, like the Beatles, I couldn't wait for the next one to come out. It was fantastic time to be a guitar player, I would do it again in a heart beat.

My biggest regret never seeing him live. When I first saw Rainbow Bridge. It really blew my mind. As a kid I wanted to play guitar like him. Taken me 25 years to even learn his music. At 50 , kids older,wife gone. I ask myself. Well what do you want to do with the rest of your life. You always wanted to be a badass guitar player. And today at 66 I’m hitting it hard and heavy. Learning his music and others. Been working on Dolly Dagger. This man finger playing it’s from another world. Just learning his music has really catapulted my guitar playing. Along with others,Page,Clapton,Knofller,Beatles,Van Helen,and all the rest. LONG LIVE ROCK.

Yes - it was originally released on "Rainbow Bridge" after he passed. I believe Rainbow was the first lp that was released on Warner Records after he died (1970). It documented the more soulful direction Hendrix was beginning to take his music to at the time. He was eager to move on from the Experience music and progress. Other than Band of Gypsies, the only albums that were released officially when he was alive were the 3 Experience records.

This song shows which way Hendrix would've went if he wouldn't die. His music was becoming more soft, smooth, funk-oriented. Psychodelia days were left behind. And his singing also improved. The Rascals also went funk in 1971. Their "Peaceful World" album is really good. Eric Burdon did funk with the band War. I can see Jimi doing something similar. Maybe a bit harder.

Well done video. Eddie Kramer says this song was a tribute to Devon Wilson infamous groupie and B movie actress. The line " she drinks the blood from the Jagged edge" was written at Jimi's birthday party when Mick Jagger cut his finger and ask for a band aid, Dolly said no need and went over and sucked the blood from his finger. She was a noted sexual volcano. She was in studio when he recorded this song and the line "watch out Devon , give me a little bit of that heaven" is a direct and sly tribute to the real Dolly Dagger.

Totally. Jimi was also goof friends with Brian Jones, who had died recently before and Jimi was always put off when Mick n Keith had tossed him from his own band. So there was that tension before Devon (one of Jimi's old ladies) runs over and does this to a dude he doesn't care for. Hence the Jagged Edge.
