Jimmie's Chicken Shack has always produced an indie grunge/funk/jazz/ska sound similar: Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, etc. Mainstream popularity has fallen for Jimmie's Chicken Shack after a brief peak thanks to heavy MTV support for Do Right. After an extended hiatus, JCS reformed w/ a slightly modified lineup, maintaining a substantial fan following.
Released four studio albums; Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope (1997), Bring Your Own Stereo (1999), Re.Present (2004) and Fail On Cue (2008). Prominent singles include "High" and "Dropping Anchor" (both from Pushing...), "Do Right" (from Bring Your Own Stereo), and "Falling Out" (featuring Aaron Lewis of Staind) (from Re.present). A fourth studio album, Fail On Cue, was released in January 2008.

Ooh
Jimmie's Chicken Shack Lyrics

Looking out
Push the button
Don't make the grade boy
Don't ask for nothing
Stupid people
Think it's funny
Dropping these bombs boy
I found a girl
Not that nothing pleases
She wants that I should be
Exactly all that she says
I make her lazy
She makes me strong
She won't believe it
'Til she hears it in a song
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Another night that kills
The music heals
Bring your own stereo
They smoke banana peels
You're going crazy
But you don't care
I left directions
So I guess I'll meet you there
Calendar girl
Got something for Jesus
She want to pass him off
As subject for her thesis
He makes her crazy
She thinks he's wrong
I don't know what I think
'Til I put it in a song
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Entertainers
We sleep 'til dawn
We've got computers
We leave 'em on
Live in castles
The richest bums
We eat for free in town
While smoking up the lawn
Ha ha ha ha
Ha ha ha ha ha
Ha ha ha ha ha
Ha ha ha ha ha
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
The lyrics to Jimmie's Chicken Shack's song "Ooh" can be interpreted in a few different ways, but they all seem to revolve around the idea of rebellion and freedom from societal expectations. The lines "Looking out, push the button" and "Don't make the grade boy, don't ask for nothing" suggest a feeling of being trapped or restricted, as if someone is trying to conform to a certain standard but failing. The mention of "stupid people" thinking it's funny suggests disdain for those who don't understand this feeling of frustration.
However, this frustration is balanced out by the positive force of love. The singer found a girl who he makes lazy, but who also makes him strong. She wants him to be exactly what she says, but the only way she'll believe it is if he puts it in a song. Similarly, Calendar girl has something for Jesus and wants to make him the subject of her thesis, but he makes her crazy and she thinks he's wrong. The singer doesn't know what to think until he puts it in a song.
The final verse speaks to the idea of living a carefree life as an entertainer. They sleep until dawn, have computers they leave on, and eat for free in town while smoking up the lawn. The laughter at the end of the verse suggests a sense of joy and perhaps a bit of defiance in this lifestyle.
Overall, the lyrics to "Ooh" seem to touch on themes of rebellion, love, and free-spiritedness.
