Born and raised in Delaware, Jimmie’s “dream” began early on as a boy in his church choir. He immediately fell in love with music and couldn’t get enough. He taught himself to play the guitar, drums, and piano while continuing to develop his chops as a singer. During his years of high school, Jimmie became extremely active in the musical theater program starring in presentations of “Footloose,” “Grease,” and “Peter Pan” and receiving rave reviews. This small taste of success was just enough to push the aspiring entertainer to a new level of excellence.
After high school and dedicated to his musical endeavors more than ever, Jimmie put together a demo showcasing his talents as a singer and songwriter He began taking trips to New York City, banging on doors, and passing around his music. To help offset some of these costs, he would enter talent contests with cash prizes and usually win. One such contest led him to the stage of the BET show, “106 and Park” and got the attention of a Nashville based producer.
Jimmie made his way to Tennessee and work began immediately. Within two days of his arrival, Jimmie and producer Kevin Wayne had written and recorded a song that solidified Jimmie’s sound and musical direction. Within a few months, major labels, managers, and agents were showing interest in the new artist, and then came a comet heading for the world.
“Comet,” Jimmie Allen’s first radio single impacting October ’09, is an exhilarating blend of Jimmie’s diverse musical influences from rock to pop to gospel and r n b. The choruses soar with huge distorted guitars while the verses pull you close to experience every intimate expression of Jimmie’s performance announcing his immense infatuation with a beautiful girl. As the drums pound, the bass pulses, and your head bounces. Handling A&R duties for the project is legendary EMIl executive Kim Stevens responsible for bands like Matchbox 20, Collective Soul, and Saving Abel. Mark Endert, mixing engineering for Madonna, Maroon 5, and The Fray, mixed the single for radio. It seems the stars are lining up for Mr. Allen. So watch the sky, there’s a comet on the way!

Home Sweet Hometown
Jimmie Allen Lyrics

It's gotta a probably never heard of name
And a handful of red lights down Main
And a whole lot of white picket
The court house clock not tickin'
I got a breakfast spot called Quick Stop
When I go home it's my first stop
The same old lady still make it
And I roll the map that's on the back on my hand
A little streets, most folks would pass and not look back
But to a couple folks like me
It's home sweet hometown
Where you keep your first sins
Your amens, your kinfolks, your old friends
Home sweet hometown
Everybody's got one, or forgot one
Or maybe they're still caught in one
Yeah, we all try to leave this place and chase them big dreams down
But the world can leave a bitter taste without
Home sweet hometown
You can change the sign, you can change the name
But the old flame's still the old flame
Whether it's a dive bar, or the first time in your first car
That old high school, that crazy crew, that Mustang midnight black
Your daddy's smile and your mama's tears
Always makes you glad you're here when you come back
Home sweet hometown
Where you keep your first sins
Your amens, your kinfolks, your old friends
Home sweet hometown
Everybody's got one, or forgot one
Or maybe they're still caught in one
Yeah, we all try to leave this place and chase them big dreams down
But the world can leave a bitter taste without
Home sweet hometown
I'm Sussex country born and raised
Got family roots and my daddy's grave
No matter where I go
This place is always home
It's home sweet hometown
Where you keep your first sins (oh yeah)
Your amens, your kinfolks, your old friends
Home sweet hometown (woo)
Everybody's got one, or forgot one (or maybe)
Or maybe they're still caught in one
Yeah, we all try to leave this place and chase them big dreams down
But the world can leave a bitter taste without
Home sweet hometown
Home sweet hometown
Home sweet hometown (woo)
Hm, yeah
Home sweet hometown
Home sweet hometown
In Jimmie Allen's song "Home Sweet Hometown," the lyrics delve into the idea of returning to one's hometown after venturing out into the world. The song highlights the small-town charms that may go unnoticed by people who did not grow up there but are cherished by those who did. The song begins by mentioning the peculiar name of the town and focusing on the little things that stand out about it, such as the old-fashioned breakfast spot called Quick Stop that the singer always visits first upon returning. The courthouse clock not ticking is an example of how time stands still in small towns, and people are reminded of their roots and upbringing when they return home.
The chorus celebrates everyone's hometown, the place where they keep their first sins, amens, kinfolks, and old friends. The song praises the feeling of coming home and knowing that everything will be all right regardless of what else is happening in the world. The second verse speaks to the familiarity of old flames and memories, whether it was a dive bar or the first time in your first car, your high school crew, or your daddy's smile and your mama's tears. The final verse mentions the singer's Sussex County roots and how his hometown will always hold a significant place in his heart, no matter how far he travels.
