(Really really really mine you're really mine
Really really really mine you're really mine)

You tell me that you love me
And you tell me that you want me
And you even wear my graduation ring

(Doo-wah) It's too wonderful
(Doo-wah) It's too beautiful
(Doo-wah) It's a fantastic thing

Are you really really mine (really mine)
Really mine (really mine)
Really mine
Will my lucky little star (little star)
Really shine (really shine)
Really shine
Kiss me with feeling
Make my heart go reeling
Make me know that you are really really really mine

(Really really really mine you're really mine
Really really really mine you're really mine)

You call me every morning
And you see me every evening
And you swear that I'm the only one for you

(Doo-wah) Here's the funny part
(Doo-wah) Though you cross your heart
(Doo-wah) I can't believe it's true

Are you really really mine (really mine)
Really mine (really mine)
Really mine
Will my lucky little star (little star)
Really shine (really shine)
Really shine
Kiss me with feeling
Make my heart go reeling
Make me know that you are really really really mine

(Really really really mine you're really mine)
Really mine
Fade:
(Really really really mine you're really mine)
Really mine
(Really really really mine you're really mine)

Overall Meaning

In Jimmie Rodgers's song "Are You Really Mine", the singer is questioning the authenticity of their partner's love. The first verse highlights the ways in which their partner expresses love, such as telling them and wearing their graduation ring. The singer seems overwhelmed by the intensity of their partner's affection but questions its veracity. The chorus repeats the question, "Are you really mine?", with the hope that their partner's love is genuine and enduring. The second verse continues to list the ways in which their partner shows love, even calling every morning and seeing the singer every evening. Despite all of these signs, the singer remains skeptical and unable to fully believe in their partner's love.

The lyrics suggest a common human experience of questioning the authenticity of love in relationships. Sometimes, as in this case, love can seem too good to be true, leading one to doubt its existence. Yet, the singer's hope that their partner's love is real resonates with listeners who have longed for genuine and lasting love. Additionally, the doo-wah harmonies and upbeat tempo of the song contrast with the singer's doubts about love, creating a tension that underscores the complexity of human emotions.

I was 8 years old when the song came out but it suddenly popped into my head and I was able to find it after trying a few times. The only words I remembered were, are you really really mine will my lucky little star really shine. And I was only able to find it when I said it was from the 50s.

Same here, but the only part that I remembered was 'and you even wear my graduation ring'. Another one of life's mysteries solved.
