The Union, a collaborative album between Elton John and Leon Russell, featured a song entitled "Jimmie Rodgers' Dream", which was a tribute to Rodgers.

Rodgers was taught music by his mother, learned to play the piano and guitar, and joined a band called "The Melodies" started by violinist Phil Clark, while he served in the United States Air Force in Korea.

That's Shelly Lee Alley of Alleyton, Tx on fiddle and his brother Alvin on guitar. Mr. Alley is who wrote the song. He also had a western swing band that recorded for both Vocalion and Bluebird. Shelly Lee Alley & His Alley Cats. Found this info on Wikipedia.
