Venus In Blue Jeans
Jimmy Clanton Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's Venus in blue jeans
Mona Lisa with a ponytail
She's walkin' talkin' work of art
She's the girl who stole my heart

My Venus in blue jeans
Is the Cinderella I adore
She's my very special angel, too
A fairy tale come true

They say there's seven wonders in the world
But what they say is out of date
There's more than seven wonders in the world
I just met number eight

My Venus in blue jeans
Is everything I hoped she'd be
A teenage goddess from above
And she belongs to me

My Venus in blue jeans
Is everything I hoped she'd be
A teenage goddess from above
And she belongs to me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Jimmy Clanton's song "Venus in Blue Jeans" paint the picture of a girl who is truly irresistible. The song's narrator describes her as "Mona Lisa with a ponytail," a "walkin' talkin' work of art," and his "Venus in blue jeans." He is clearly smitten with her, calling her his "Cinderella" and "very special angel." He even goes so far as to say that there are more than seven wonders in the world, and that he has just met number eight - this amazing girl who has stolen his heart.

The song captures the feeling of being completely infatuated with someone, and the idea that one person can truly be the center of your world. The singer sees the girl as a goddess, someone who is above human mortal concerns and who belongs to him alone. This romanticization of the girl creates a sense of idealistic longing, and listeners can't help but be swept up in the singer's passion.

Overall, "Venus in Blue Jeans" is a classic love song that captures the feeling of being head over heels in love. It is a perfect example of the pop music of the time, with its catchy melody and romantic lyrics. The song remains a favorite of many people today, and continues to be played on oldies stations and at weddings and dances across the country.

Hebrew Word - ื™ืจืึธื” - Yirah- Fear

Have you ever watched a sunrise or a sunset and stood in awe? Have you ever camped under the Milky Way and been in awe of the night sky and the sheer number of stars? If you're a parent, I bet you're still in awe of the miracle of childbirth.

The Hebrew word we translate as "awe" is yirah, which means
"respect, reverence, and worship." But, yirah also means "fear." It's the word used in Proverbs 9:10, which reads, "The fear (yirah) of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom." I grew up thinking "fear the Lord" meant to be afraid of Him--to be scared. I was never quite sure what I was supposed to be afraid of, so I assumed it was because He could crush me at any moment (which is true, I guess, but I had a feeling that was not it).

When you watch a sunset or stand on the shore of an ocean, you don't feel fear- you feel awe and reverence. You feel yirah. Having the type of awe and reverence for God that motivates you to do His will is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. Do you fear the Lord that way?

Iโ€™m met this wonderful man at an airport this week. He is a God fearing Christian man. It was such an honor.

Jimmy lived in and was a disk jockey at the same radio station here in my hometown from 1972-1976, that I hung out at as a young teenager 10 years earlier here in Columbia, Pennsylvania.. I cannot believe I was so busy working all the time, in addition to having fun, that I never knew he was here, otherwise I would have surely met him.. and maybe hung out at the station with him a few times.

That's not the same "Sandy" whose his 'Go, Johnny Go !' (1959) singer co-star Sandy Stewart who also has a lovely voice on her hits back then, Heavenly Father,Up Above & Playmate ?
In tonight interview with legendary WABC DJ, "Cousin Brucie" he mentioned when he was recording an album session in 1958, the keyboard player was Dick Holler ( don't know if it was the same one who later wrote Abraham, Martin and John, both hits for Blues singer, Big Mama Thornton & Dion's last big hit of his in 1968)
