Guantanamera
Jimmy Fontana Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yo soy un hombre sincero
De donde crecen las palmas
Yo soy un hombre sincero
De donde crecen las palmas
Y antes de morirme quiero
Echar mis versos del alma

Guantanamera
Guajira Guantanamera
Guantanamera
Guajira Guantanamera

Mi verso es de un verde claro
Y de un carmin encendido
Mi verso es de un verde claro
Y de un carmin encendido
Mi verso es un ciervo herido
Que busca en el monte amparo

Guantanamera, guajira………

Cultivo la rosa blanca
En junio como en enero
Qultivo la rosa blanca
En junio como en enero
Para el amigo sincero
Que me da su mano franca

Guantanamera, guajira……

Y para el cruel que me arranca
El corazon con que vivo
Y para el cruel que me arranca
El corazon con que vivo
Cardo ni ortiga cultivo
Cultivo la rosa blanca

Guantamera, guajira….

Con los pobres de la tierra
Quiero yo mi suerte echar
Con los pobres de la tierra
Quiero yo mi suerte echar
El arroyo de la sierra
Me complace mas que el mar

Guantanamera, guajira….

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Jimmy Fontana's Guantanamera is a song about honesty, sincerity, and fairness. The song starts with the singer introducing himself as a truthful man from a place where palms grow. He then expresses his desire to leave his thoughts and feelings in the world through his verses before he passes away. The lyrics also touch upon the singer's love for his land, its natural beauty, and the culture of its people.

Throughout the song, the singer talks about his poetry and how it reflects his experiences of life. He describes his verses as being clear, vibrant, and deep. He compares himself to a wounded deer who seeks for protection in the mountains. He also mentions his love for white roses, which he grows in all seasons for his honest friends. However, despite all of the beauty in the world, the singer also experiences pain, heartbreak, and cruelty. He mentions that he doesn't cultivate thistles and thorns when his heart is broken by someone, but instead, grows white roses as a symbol of hope and peace.

Overall, Guantanamera is a song that is grounded in the spirit of Cuba's folk culture, which celebrates the values of community, love, and honesty.

@maurizioatyout

@francescoantoniolago9670

@ilmondodijimmyfontana7869

@maurizioatyout
